  1. Wish his injury is not very serious. If we have to play matches with one right back short through-out the tournament then we are doomed. But anyway, Austria is going to play a fast high-pressing game. Everything would depend on the mid-field. if things rich upto Molina deeper inside our territory, Austria would pose serious threat for Emi.

  2. Argentina played well in the first game. Of course there are rooms for improvements. Some players had forgettable performance. But in the end result matters.

I really hope Montiel recovers soon.there is no point in lamenting for the players who did not make the squad.

Let’s not drop points, we have to win the group to at least have a easier route in the knockouts. Other big teams have found their groove back. We have to hold onto our rhythm.

  3. In our second game we should be more in sync, but Austria is also a potentially tricky opponent. Their main weapon is pressing and counter pressing so our midfielders would have to be extra careful not to lose possession and commit turnovers in the middle of the park. A healthy Paredes in that kind of game would have been great, but I don’t think he is ready to play 90 minutes. Enzo, Mac and De Paul need to shield the ball well, I hope we practiced that in the training sessions.

There is still a scenario in which we can win somewhat comfortably, but errors can cost us. This is the kind of game where the level of press resistance skill and concertation will be tested.

    • Paredes to put his team 2–3 goals ahead by the 60th minute. Let’s make it happen! ⚽🔥💪

  4. Whenever a World Cup begins, many people around the world ask themselves: why are there no black players in the Argentine national team? Could the questioning finally come to an end in the next World Cup, now that a 17-year-old rising star named Stephen “Kiki” Ramos who is of Haitian descent but holds Argentine citizenship has emerged?

  5. Selecting injured montial is totally a joke to me. Scaloni is so stubborn. We dont have any makeshift RB as well. That offside goal vs Algeria was Montial’s fault as well. Maybe Simeone will get some minutes .

  6. This injury maybe a blessing in disguise. Scaloni will adapt and strategize. Molina starts, which has always been the better option even 4 years ago. And we also can opt to rotate to three back and a wider mid to cover the backs.
Last world cup the blessing in disguise injury was Locelso,…his exclusion gave scaloni less complex decisions and more crystal clarity to choose how our midfield would shape out by the second and third group match.

  7. Furthermore, I would like to see José Manuel López at some point against Austria. If the game is flowing nicely for Argentina and they’re in a strong and commanding position Scaloni should use the moment to introduce Flaco López, this would be the best time to try your unknown (6 ft 3 in) number nine against a European team, strategizing for possible match up against the top tier European teams later on in the tournament. We get to see hold up play, goal scoring opportunities both with his head and feet, and some defensive work in the mix if Argentina is defending on set piece or corner kick. Please, no Lautaro against Austria, he is a top level player but he can always start against Jordan. We need to see some new faces introduced if Argentina has a nice cushion during the game. Barco, Flaco López, Palacios (even though he has been around) and Marcos Senesi. Marcos Senesi is another player who should get minutes against Austria, for the same reason I mentioned Flaco López. Senesi has good height, he can be impactful on set pieces both in the defense and in the opponent’s 18 yard box. Scaloni and his coaching staff need to figure this out, Scaloni should be working on a plan B. As Richard mentioned a while ago, the European teams are focused on set pieces, Scaloni should be ready to beat them at their own game..

Possible opponents on set piece and corner kick:

France has Marcus Thuram, Mateta ( scored against Argentina at the Olympics) and a few capable center backs on set pieces

Holland has Virgil van Dijk, Wout Weghorst and Gakpo

England has Harry Kane, Bellingham and Declan Rice

Germany has Kai Havertz, Nick Woltemade and Nico Schlotterbeck

Spain is kind of weak in this category, but they do have players capable of scoring from set piece and corner kick.

Sweden has Viktor Gyökeres and Alexander Isak

Portugal has CR, not as strong in this category.

Uruguay is not too shabby on set pieces either.

Some might say wait on the 3rd game against Jordan to introduce new players, the problem with this notion is, the players selected in the starting eleven vs Jordan will be fighting for a spot in the first choice starting eleven which will most likely lead to a scrappy incoherent game, with no Messi etc. So how do the new guys build chemistry with Messi on the pitch in a competitive game when he will be resting? That’s why I want to see a few new faces against Austria (if the game is going in Argentina’s favor). Flaco López and Barco should get the opportunity to play alongside Messi at least before the knockouts. And also, Nico Paz should try to be more calm on the pitch, don’t try to do too much, just take a deep breath and make the simple passes. That pass he made to Nico Gonzalez at the end against Algeria was underwhelming. Hoping that Nico Paz has plenty of breakout moments at this year’s World Cup.

    • I pray Lopez never plays for us. He is hit or miss and historically we always flop when we have a player named lopez anywhere in our squad. Check our past, I’m not superstitious, just stats.

  8. Look at Netherlands and france,Argentina with this system earn any thing instead messi personal record
