Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni speaks at press conference before Jordan game

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference before the match against Jordan.

Lionel Scaloni stated that Lionel Messi will start on the bench for Argentina against Jordan at the World Cup. In the same press conference, Scaloni spoke about the team and the match. Here is what he had to say:

“You always have to take precautions regarding what the opponent has. In this World Cup, it is being seen that there are teams that play in different ways and several of them are getting results.

“The great merit of everything that has been done goes to the guys who are always there and train to their maximum. I think that when there’s an opportunity, there are great players who also deserve to come in. And the idea is for the team to play in the same way.

“When playing with this shirt, it doesn’t matter the moment, the need for points or not. This means going out to play and doing it well, always trying to win. That’s why we maintain the same way and anxiety as the first day.

“The decision of who plays tomorrow has nothing to do with who will play the next match.

“If it happens, we could take advantage to test systems. Jordan tends to play with five defenders and it’s a system that means you have to move differently if you play with a back four. We have worked on it and the team wouldn’t have any issues with modifying something.”
