Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has named his starting eleven for the match against Egypt and Lionel Messi starts.

Lionel Scaloni has made a few changes to the starting eleven which started Argentina’s 3-2 win against Cabo Verde. Here is the starting eleven:

Emiliano Martínez; Molina, Romero, Lisandro Martínez, Tagliafico; De Paul, Paredes, Enzo, Mac Allister; Messi and Julián Álvarez

    I can’t remember if I ever saw such a comeback win from Argentina.
    I was so nervous when we were trailing by 2 goals.
    Now I am so happy!

    On a side note – I still think Almada should have got a few minutes in what was his former home ground. But it’s ok, I will let it go today because all is well that ends well.

You gotta start looking at Senesi and honestly, you gotta play Barco, Lo Celso, Simeone cause you are getting very little from Molina Tagliafico. If they don’t fix this lack of desire to run we are going to get destroyed in the next round. You just can’t roll this shit out there and expect different results. You’ll eventually get exposed by a team that’s not afraid of your shirt.

    • Exactly. The other team has got nothing to lose and has no expectations or pressure. And how many get-out-of-jail-free cards do we have left. I grudgingly accept what some of the pessimistic ones here say and plea that Scaloni changes things further. If he is indeed really responsive as some of us still believe he is, he should be switching things around. The wingbacks, the extremely flat midfield 4 (who don’t make line breaking passes) are seriously out of form and lethargic after so many matches now and ought to be swapped out. I dare put to us too that dear Dibu should also be considered for swapping (I know he made the CV save and CV’s goal was a worldie but still).

  3. This is the greatest Argentina’s game I ever watched, but the truth is I threw the towel when Egypt was 2-0, but I said I have to go down as a strong Argentina fan. This team is different than any other Argentina team; it takes a mind of steal to overcome 2 goals with 13 minutes left in regular time.

    • I was so nervous when we were trailing by 2 goals, but with a superb comeback win like this I am getting good vibes from Argentina.

        • Sabya,initially I was rattled after seeing them score that goal.However ,when it went to var for check the thought was simple “Not a goal ,Not a goal plz”. After a few mins ,Egypt had their 2nd goal and I got disappointed.But my heart said when belgium can come back from 0-2 down to 3-2 ,why not us ? Win this fixture and the cup is ours.I am somehow hopeful that we will go on the way.The fighting spirit of this team was unmatchable and Messi has transformed in to a great leader lately.

  9. This was a lucky escape, just like the match against Cabo Verde. We got very very lucky today, but this kind of tactical approach will absolutely not work against England or any of the top teams.

    That goal alone should not nullify the dismal performance of Enzo today. Scaloni can not just keep the same approach in the next game. It is the definition of insanity.

      • I do sincerely hope, from the bottom of my heart (which has been scared and attacked multiple times over the past many years whenever I watch Argentina games, in 2022 and so far over the last 2 games), that we have not used up all our luck/mojo/dark arts/fighting spirit/whatever-you-want-to-call-it, that has kept us in the fight still. There are so many games and it’s just pure insanity.

        Ever single fricking time Egypt broke away, every single time Egypt swung in a cross, I cringed, closed my eyes and prayed. The entire defence including Dibu were non existent. It is wrong to play football like that and very bad for the country and the fans.

This is the first game Argentina conceded first since 2022; therefore, the team went out to equalize and Egypt capitalized on it; it could happen to any team. The team show grit and resilience and will continue till the end. The team should have been eliminated this time around, but they show us when their back is against the wall they find a solution.

Only what worked was moving Mac from #5, but Paredes defending is worrying and specially, when Molina was so weak again…. If we face Colombiathey i fear they will eat us alive also Swizerland has fast and technical players. Can’t belive Scaloni not changing anything defenssively, when it is more, than obvious we are defending SO BADLY! Horified with such a awful defending and even way weaker teams can set up their defenssive play way, way better!

Molina remains the weakest link in the team and, may be, just may be, Palacios could have been given the right full back slot.
