Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni speaks after World Cup final loss

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke after the team’s World Cup final loss.

Lionel Scaloni held a press conference after Argentina’s 1-0 loss against Spain in the World Cup final. Speaking to the media, here is what he had to say:

“We had injuries in key positions that we were not expecting. The wear and tear has been enormous, they gave their all.

“I’m proud of how they’ve competed. AT the moment they scored the goal against us, we thought we were going to go all the way to the end and have some chances.

“We have to give credit to the opponent.

“We had to make many changes due to several obstacles that arose before us.

“I only have words of gratitude for this group.

“Nico Tagliafico played a great game, he didn’t want to come out. I’m very proud of everyone, I have no complaints about any of them.

“It hurts our souls not to be able to lift the cup.

“This coach is satisfied with his players.

“I have to thank this group because they have been warriors.”

Scaloni also spoke about Lionel Messi:

“Leo is 39 years old, he’s an incredible thing. I was absolutely clear that he would play as long as he wanted. I hope that people are proud of him and the team. Messi is the best footballer to have ever stepped onto a pitch, in my opinion.”
