Lautaro Martínez commented on Argentina’s loss in the World Cup final.
Martínez did not play in the World Cup final but he did comment on his Instagram about the match. Here is what he had to say:
“We tried, for the second consecutive World Cup, we reached a World Cup final, this time, it wasn’t to be.
“I feel very proud to be Argentine.
“I would have liked to have helped the team yesterday on the pitch but well.
“Thank you to everyone who accompanied us on this World Cup, travelling km and km to be close to us and to everyone who backed us in every corner of the country.”

Please respond to this message Albiceleste family instead of posting new ones so we can find out what happened. Does anyone know or has heard of what Scaloni was referring to and Messi was addressing about “something that happened” before the game? Any insight? Thanks.
He was referring to the grueling schedule traveling to New York a day before the final, and the extra rest day Spain was entitled to but not Argentina due to semi-final unfair schedule.
The schedule is fixed before drawing. We were unlucky to be in the lower bracket. In 2022, we were in the upper bracket and we had 1 more day than France. It’s life.
Regarding the travel from Atlanta, blame AFA on bad logistics.
Don’t know what happen to the team suddenly that just beat Brazil 4-1 comfortably last year. That match gave us so much hope thinking we are the best team in the world but everything shatter within a year.
One year, a lot can happen!
Paz and Lo Celso deserved playing time. They were both excellent in the short time they played and would have been exactly who we needed against Spain yesterday.
But instead Senesi? MacAllister? Come on…
This World Cup was lost because of too much loyalty to older players. It was lost 3 years ago when Scaloni failed to integrate new blood. He did the best he could with this squad, but even he knows a lot of these guys are gone in the new cycle. Probably 75 percent of them. That’s why he has doubts of continuing. It’s easier said than done to say get rid of guys that aren’t performing.
In terms of the naysayers like England fans and players, know this. You pieces of shits haven’t won anything in 6 fucking decades. You can wallow in your own tears because it’s never coming home. We have been to 6 finals, won 3, so you can collectively eat Argentine shit. Your league is a fucking joke. The teams are owned mostly by foreign investors and your players are all foreigners in the league. You can cry those crocodile tears and I wish every misery on you insufferable fools that don’t know shit about the game. Your misery is everyone else’s joy.
Exactly. Completely agreed. It wasn’t easy decision to take or do. There is no argument we should have look for fullbacks and wingers after last World Cup but we didn’t that was mistake.
Scaloni called up injured players and didn’t give young players a chance, even after the disastrous performances from his regular starters. In the end, it cost Messi his second World Cup. Shame on players like Paredes, Molina, Simeone, De Paul, Enzo, Mac Allister, and Romero.
Why are you shaming the players? It was not their fault that Scaloni picked them. Of course they would welcome the opportunity to play whenever picked for public exposure, media spotlight, upgrade price tag, more salary, and because they like to play football before everything else. Even if they were injured, they wouldn’t reveal it until it becomes hard to hide the pain.
So blame Scaloni for not separating personal ties and alliances from making beneficial business decisions as the foundational cement of his job as a manager.
If Scaloni step down..I don’t find any suitable candidates…may be Gallardo or Crespo? I don’t think Lorenzo suitable to current Argentine players..!
He ain’t going nowhere. They will let him calm down then most likely in September he will sit down with Tapia and AIMAR will be there too . Very important what they discuss there and I can guarantee it will be about changing players to rebuilt and playing more stronger team. Ota played his last game and Messi probably gonna say goodbye at home also Paredes and DePaul probably gonna go too. Enzo ,Macca has another World Cup in them. Now it will be time for Paz,Barco and others to take over for sure
So sorry El Toro. You deserved better.
Yeah, he deserved to be on the field. We love you Lautaro. Things just didn’t work out right. The referee was very disappointing, Enzo’s 2nd yellow challenge was unnecessary and our 2 CB injuries ruined the entire game plan. Sorry Lautaro.
