Bayer Leverkusen not allowing Claudio Echeverri to join Argentina for U20 World Cup

Bayer Leverkusen have decided not to allow Claudio Echeverri to join Argentina for the U20 World Cup.

Claudio Echeverri will not be joining Diego Placente’s team for the tournament later this month. Simon Rolfes, the club’s managing director of sport, was quoted by Kicker as saying:

“That’s wishful thinking, we’re going to need the players. He’s staying. That’s our view and also City’s.”

Exequiel Palacios was injured in Bayer Leverkusen’s most recent match and Bayer Leverkusen will be without him until the start of the new year. Real Madrid’s current coach Xabi Alonso also raised doubts about Franco Mastantuono’s participation in the tournament.

The U20 World Cup will take place between September 27 and October 19 in Chile.

Ángel Di María scored an olimpico, a goal from a corner kick, for Rosario Central in their 1-1 draw against Boca Juniors.

Di María had the best goal of the weekend, scoring directly from a corner kick for Rosario Central. With the score at 0-0, Leandro Paredes, who was Boca’s best player, played a pass in to Aguirre and his cross inside the penalty area found Rodrigo Battaglia who scored a header to give Boca the 1-0 lead.

Minutes later, Rosario Central were awarded a corner kick and it was Ángel Di María who took the corner kick, scoring directly from it to draw Rosario Central level. He now has four goals in seven league matches since returning to Rosario Central.

The match would end 1-1 with Boca in third place in their group and Rosario sixth in their group.

Lisandro Martínez plans return for late October or early November

Per reports by journalist Gastón Edul, Lisandro Martínez is working on his recovery with the aim of returning to action between late October and early November. Manchester United have decided not to rush the Argentine defender back, focusing instead on ensuring he is fully fit and able to regain continuity ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Martínez has been sidelined since February, when he suffered a serious left knee ligament injury during a Premier League match against Crystal Palace. The setback required surgery and was expected to keep him out for around eight months.

The 27-year-old has been an important figure for both Manchester United and the Argentina national team, and his planned return will be closely followed by Lionel Scaloni and his staff as they prepare for the next World Cup.

Joaquín Panichelli scored for Strasbourg in their 1-0 win against Le Havre.

Panichelli made it three goals in four league matches this season with Strasbourg. With the score at 0-0, Strasbourg were awarded a penalty.

Up stepped the Argentine who kicked down the middle and scored to give Strasbourg the 1-0 lead. Valentín Barco also started the match for Strasbourg.

Nehuén Pérez undergoes surgery, expected to miss six to eight months

Nehuén Pérez has undergone surgery and is expected to miss six to eight months.

Peréz was substituted into FC Porto’s match against against Nacional on Saturday in the 55th minute and was injured in the 58th minute before being substituted out two minutes later.

FC Porto confirmed that the 25 year old defender suffered a complete tear of his Achilles tendon and was operated on. He has already started his recovery.
