Argentina against Iraq is in a few hous and we have some exciting names starting for Lionel SCALONI’s team.

Veteran of the Argentina team Sergio ROMERO will captain the side in Saudi Arabia with a young attack. Only Maxi MEZA and Paulo DYBALA from the World Cup team will start against Iraq. As confirmed by SCALONI on Wednesday, here’s the starting eleven:

ROMERO; BUSTOS, PEZZELLA, FUNES MORI, ACUNA; PAREDES, MEZA, VAZQUEZ; DYBALA, Lautaro MARTINEZ, DE PAUL.

Rodrigo DE PAUL will receive his first ever cap for his country as he joins Paulo DYBALA and Lautaro MARTINEZ in the attack.

Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI gave a press conference ahead of his team’s match against Iraq in Saudi Arabia.

Lionel SCALONI will be looking for his second victory in charge of the Argentina national team and will hope for a third a few days later against Brazil. However, the Argentina coach is cautious about the two matches. Speaking a press conference, here’s what he had to say:

“Today, in football, there’s nothing simple. Surely Iraq will be a complicated opponent but we will try to do things well. I thanked the players for being in the national team. I am very comfortable and thankful.

“We have to play and win tomorrow. It’s the best way to enjoy the next match. I don’t know if we will play the same 11 in the next match but tomorrow, it’ll be the one’s who I think are the best.”

As we reported on Wednesday, SCALONI confirmed the eleven which will start on Thursday:

“The team for tomorrow is confirmed: ROMERO, BUSTOS, PEZZELLA, FUNES MORI, ACUNA, PAREDES, MEZA, VAZQUEZ, DYBALA, MARTINEZ and DE PAUL.”

SCALONI was also asked about the match against Brazil:

“First, we have to play this match. It’s special. It’s the eternal rival but there is still time. I don’t want to get to that match with a bad taste in my mouth.”

In regards to the condition of some of the players:

“We don’t want players in bad conditions to come. We don’t want players that aren’t one hundred percent.”

Argentina confirmed to play Mexico twice in November

The Argentina national team will play two friendly matches in November, both of which will come against Mexico.

Lionel SCALONI will have two last matches to test out players to close 2018 and both matches will reportedly take place in Argentina. Mexican federation spokewoman, Beatriz RAMOS confirmed it all on Wednesday stating the following:

“We have reached an agreement with the Argentina Football Association for the FIFA date matches in November for Saturday the 17th and Tuesday the 20th in cities to be decided.”

There are rumors that one of the matches would take place at La Bombonera with the second outside of Buenos Aires. The official Argentina account also confirmed the information with a tweet.

It would be the last two matches of the year before a permanent coach for Argentina would be selected in December.

Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI has confirmed the starting eleven against Iraq.

Sergio ROMERO will start as the goalkeeper and while no Mauro ICARDI in the line-up, Paulo DYBALA of Juventus gets the start. Here’s the confirmed team.

ROMERO; BUSTOS, PEZZELLA, FUNES MORI, ACUNA; MEZA, VAZQUEZ, DYBALA; Lautaro, DE PAUL.

This would be the first cap for Rodrigo DE PAUL of Udinese.

Nicolas BURDISSO has retired as a professional footballer after 19 years.

Former Argentina international and Inter player Nicolas BURDISSO has announced his retirement at the age of 37, through a post on social media. He played for five clubs throughout his career, one in Argentina and the other four in Italy.

He started off with Boca Juniors and played for the senior team from 1999-2004 before joining Inter. He stayed five years with Inter and joined rivals AS Roma until 2014 before joining Genoa for three years. He finished his career with Torino, spending one season.

With the Argentina national team, BURDISSO was capped a total of 49 times between 2003-2011 where he scored two goals. A member of two World Cup squads, he was there for Germany 2006 and was part of the 2010 World Cup tam. He won the 2001 FIFA U20 World Cup as well as olympic gold at the 2004 summer games.
