Geronimo RULLI, PAREDES, SIMEONE and more in Argentina training eleven

Interim Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI has tried out his first formation and players on Tuesday for Argentina.

With Paulo DYBALA still not joining the squad due to off pitch problems and Inter captain Mauro ICARDI likely to miss out due to injury, here were the eleven players which were tried out in training:

RULLI; BUSTOS, PEZZELLA, FUNES MORI, TAGLIAFICO; LO CELSO, PAREDES, PALACIOS; PAVON, SIMEONE, Gonzalo MARTINEZ.

It’s worth noting that Lautaro MARTINEZ is also unfit and there are rumors that Lionel SCALONI would play two different teams for the two matches.

Argentina vs. Guatemala – Los Angeles, Friday, September 7 at 11:00pm Eastern (8:00pm California time, 4:00am UK Saturday).

Argentina vs. Colombia – New York, Tuesday, September 11 at 8:00pm Eastern (5:00pm California time, 1:00am UK Wednesday).

Giovanni SIMEONE likely to replace Mauro ICARDI in Argentina team

Reports are emerging that Inter captain Mauro ICARDI will not take part in Argentina’s matches and that Giovani SIMEONE will likely get the nod.

As we have reported the last few days, both Mauro ICARDI and Lautaro MARTINEZ are carrying knocks and aren’t fully fit. Reports are currently coming out that ICARDI will not be fit enough to take part in any of Argentina’s two friendly matches (against Guatemala and Colombia).

However, ICARDI is expected to remain with the rest of the team in hopes that he could eventually be good enough to get some minutes in the second match on Tuesday against Colombia.

The beneficiary in all of this is rumored to be Giovani SIMEONE. The Fiorentina striker is rumored to be the one to replace the Inter number 9 in the Argentina setup.

Mauro ICARDI and Lautaro MARTINEZ are currently with the Argentina National Team but trained differently from the rest of the group.

Inter Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI has already started with the training sessions but the the Nerazzurri duo did not train with the rest of the team. As we reported a few days ago, both players are doubts for the Albiceleste’s friendly matches against Guatemala and Colombia.

Tests will be done on both ICARDI and MARTINEZ to see the severity of their injuries and if they would be able to take part in the matches.

Maxi MEZA talks the Argentina National Team and Lionel MESSI

Maxi MEZA has landed in the United States with the rest of the Argentina National Team ahead of the two friendly matches.

Just like Nicolas TAGLIAFICO did when he landed, Maxi MEZA spoke to the media and was asked about captain Lionel MESSI’s absence as well as the Argentina team. Here’s what MEZA had to say about Lionel MESSI.

“He’s a very important player, beyond just being a footballer but as a person as well for what he transmits. Personally, I believe he’s taken a well deserved break. Let’s hope he returns.

“He loves Argentina a lot and is the first one who wants to win something important with the Argentina National Team. Let’s hope he comes back for the good of the National Team and for everyone.”

MEZA, who was part of Argentina’s World Cup squad, spoke about the future of the team.

“Now we have to adapt to what the new coach says, if he comes with changes or not. We have to work and get Argentina as high up as possible. It’s a shame what happened at the World Cup.

There are a lot of players that are important with their clubs and will be here with the National Team.”

Nicolas TAGLIAFICO’s Argentina career will have a new chapter with the two friendly matches later this month against Guatemala and Colombia.

One of the players called-up to the Argentina team during the World Cup and someone who started all four of Argentina’s matches at the tournament, Nicolas TAGLIAFICO, is presently with the squad in the United States. Speaking with TyC Sports, the Ajax man had this to say about the Argentina National Team beginning with Lionel MESSI.

“It’s weird to come (to the Argentina National Team) and that MESSI isn’t there.”

Nicolas TAGLIAFICO spoke about the 2019 Copa America and the new cycle with the team.

“The most important competition we have is next year (the 2019 Copa America), so it’s important to know your new team mates.

“I’ll bring what I always bring… I was at the World Cup but I don’t have that many matches either (played with Argentina), so I’m just one more name and I have to continue to do what I have been doing.

“Even I have to take advantage of every opportunity because no one has won their spot (in the team).”
