Alejandro SABELLA could coach Argentina senior, youth teams

91

News coming out of Argentina that former coach Alejandro SABELLA could take over as National Team coach.

Per a report by TyC Sports, SABELLA is rumored to manage the team with a big project behind it all. In short, the idea would be that he would take over the team (both at senior level as well as youth level).

SABELLA would manage the senior side at the very least until the 2019 Copa America. In the mean time, he would also coach the U20 team at the South American U20 tournament to be held in Chile between January and February of next year.

That tournament has 2.5 places for a South American teams for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

This is all still just speculation, especially with Lionel SCALONI presently taking charge of the U20 team.

Gonzalo HIGUAIN of Juventus receives offers from Chelsea, Bayern, AC Milan

52

Juventus striker Gonzalo HIGUAIN has reportedly received offers from Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

While the Argentine international didn’t particularly have a good World Cup with his country, that hasn’t stopped the offers from coming in for his services. With the arrival of Cristiano RONALDO at Juventus, the reigning Serie A champions have received some calls for their number nine.

Per la Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan have made an offer of €60 million for HIGUAIN. Apparently it would be a four year deal.

There were reports last week that Chelsea president Roman ABRAMOVICH travelled to Turin to hold talks with the club. Bayern Munich are apparently interested in signing him as well.

Lautaro MARTINEZ and Mauro ICARDI score in Inter draw against Zenit

There were plenty of Argentine players on display but only two scored as Inter drew 3-3 against Zenit.

Lautaro MARTINEZ and Mauro ICARDI will form a formidable partnership if these early beginnings are anything to go by. The Inter captain scored Inter’s second of the match as the goalkeeper went the wrong way off a penalty as ICARDI gave his team the lead.

In the 65th minute, Lautaro MARTINEZ was substituted on for ICARDI and it took him just 10 minutes to make his mark. With just over 15 minutes left in the match, Lautaro drew his new club level with a predatory like finish from inside the penalty area.

For Zenit, Leandro PAREDES, Matias KRANEVITTER and Sebastian DRIUSSI all played for the Russian club.

Argentina’s Benjamin GARRE makes Manchester City debut

60

Benjamin GARRE from Argentina made his debut for Manchester City in a 1-0 pre-season friendly loss to Borussia Dortmund.

With Manchester City coach Pep GUARDIOLA being unable to count on Sergio AGUERO and Nicolas OTAMENDI as they have yet to rejoin the team following the World Cup, there was still one Argentine representative.

Despite losing 1-0 to a Mario GOTZE goal, Pep gave the 18 year old winger his debut. The positive news for Argentina fans is Pep’s track record not only in integrative youth players into his teams but also giving them full confidence and making them grow as a player.

He is the grandson of Oscar GARRE, World Cup winner in 1986 with Argentina.
