Giovani SIMEONE got himself a goal and an assist for Fiorentina while Lucas OCAMPOS scored for Marseille and Luciano VIETTO assisted for Fulham.
With his father Diego SIMEONE in the stands, Giovani SIMEONE bagged himself a goal and an assist in Fiorentina’s 6-1 win against Chievo. SIMEONE, who has been called-up to the Argentina team, assisted Marco BENASSI with a cross in for the third goal of the match.
Giovani would later add his name to the tally in the 93rd minute as his shot went through the legs of the goalkeeper. Fellow Argentine international and club captain German PEZZELLA played the full 90 minutes for Fiorentina.
Another former River Plate man scored in Europe as Lucas OCAMPOS got his first goal of the season in Marseille 2-2 draw against Rennes. OCAMPOS got the rebound off just centimeters in front of goal.
Luciano VIETTO did not score like Roberto PEREYRA did earlier in England but he had two assists to his name in Fulham’s 4-2 win against Burnley. The first was a simple pass just three minutes in as Jean Michael SERI scored an absolute screamer of a goal. The second was a cross sent in which found the head of Aleksandar MITROVIC as he made it 2-1 for Fulham.
VIETTO looked like an absolute star as he created five goalscoring chances including one big chance which fell to Andre SCHURRLE but the German had shit shot saved by Joe HART.
Roberto PEREYRA’s excellent form continues this season for Watford with yet another goal.
After scoring twice in the opening match, PEREYRA has now added a third to his name, this time in Watford’s 2-1 win against Crystal Palace. It seems as if PEREYRA only scores nice goals and not simple tap in’s from close range. PEREYRA’s curler of a shot from outside of the penalty area beat the goalkeeper to give Watford the 1-0 lead.
Roberto PEREYRA was part of the 2015 Copa America squad for Argentina and with this impressive form, should definitely be included in future squads as well.
Racing Club picked up a massive 3-0 to momentarily go top of the Argentina Superliga table while Matias SUAREZ and Rodrigo ALIENDRO scored two goal of the season contenders.

Matias SUAREZ made it 2-0 with an absolute peach of a goal, arguably goal of the season. The former Anderlecht man flicked the ball over the defender, went around his marker and side chipped the goalkeeper.
Estudiantes pulled one back in injury time in the second half when Sebastian OLIVARES of Belgrano scored an own goal.
The second match on Friday saw Racing Club travel to Patronato and dismantle the home side in a 3-0 win. Guillermo FERNANDEZ opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a goal from the edge of the penalty area. Always in the headlines, Ricardo CENTURION made it 2-0 in the 51st penalty off a penalty.
A terrible back pass by Patronato lead to Pablo CUADRA receiving the ball as he exchanged passes with Gustavo BOU before CUADRA scored to make it 3-0 and the victory.
Still Friday, Defensa y Justicia managed a 1-0 win against Independiente. Nicolas FERNANDEZ latched on to a loose ball and after being left all alone due to poor marking, scored past the goalkeeper.
Friday’s last match brought a late goal in Atletico Tucuman’s 2-1 win against Colon. Mathias ABERO VILLAN made it 1-0 for Tucuman, a goal from a difficult angle. Marcelo ESTIGARRIBIA equalized for Colon after a 67 meter sprint and a lovely counter attack.
Rodrigo ALIENDRO gave Atletico Tucuman the win in the 89th minute with a goal of the season contender (a different style from that of Matias SUAREZ’s goal). A 95.2 km/h shot from outside of the area, an absolute rocket.
Saturday’s first match saw Talleres get a 2-0 win away against Gimnasia. It took 69 minutes before the first goal as Andres CUBAS scored. In injury time, Mauro ORTIZ made it 2-0 to seal the win.
The first draw of the weekend came between Tigre and San Martin, a 2-2 score means that Tigre remain win less after three rounds. A lovely goal by Juan CAVALLARO opened the scoring, a lovely shot from outside of the penalty area.
San Martin drew level after a big mistake from Augusto BATALLA as the former River Plate and Argentina U20 man blundered on the ball and Martin BRAVO pounced. Diego MORALES was at the end of Tigre’s second goal, a great team goal which sliced the San Martin back line apart. However, it was heart break for the home side as with just nine minutes from time, Diego CARDOZO scored to snatch the three points away from Tigre.
A second goalkeeping mistake by BATALLA as he wasn’t able to hold onto the shot and CARDOZO scored the rebound from close range.
River Plate and Argentinos played to a 0-0 draw as both teams are now still without a win. For Marcelo GALLARDO’s men, it’s three draws out of three while Argentinos are at two draws and one loss.
Sunday’s matches are Velez hosting Banfield, Aldosivi away to Lanus, Rosario Central looking to go top of the table against San Martin de Tucuman and Huracan close out the day against Boca. Monday has Godoy hosting Newell’s and Union against San Lorenzo.
Angel DI MARIA spoke about the Argentina National Team and the upcoming Copa America.
PSG’s Angel DI MARIA’s time with the Argentina National Team may slowly be coming to an end and he hints that it may be what the media want. Speaking at a press conference in Paris in regards to Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI trying out younger players for the next friendly matches, here’s what he had to say:
“I believe it was a general decision. Close to the World Cup, SCALONI would have thought that it would be better for the players to be a little calmer and try out others. It’s a little bit of what the press wants as well.”
“That there’s no permanent coaching staff picked doesn’t bother me. SCALONI is capable of doing this job. Walter SAMUEL’s arrival is very important. You have to be calm and know what’s left for the Copa America. We have these friendly matches left, after that in March there are qualifiers and when the World Cup gets here, we’ll see what will happen.”
The AFA have confirmed that Walter SAMUEL will join the Argentina coaching staff.
As we reported a few times, there were rumors that Walter SAMUEL would join interim Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI’s coaching staff. Per a tweet from the official Argentina account, the former Interand Argentina international will join the coaching staff.
