Federico FAZIO, Diego PEROTTI in Champions League semi’s

Federico FAZIO and Diego PEROTTI have made the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

It was a night to remember for the Italian club as they pulled out a shock 3-0 victory against Barcelona to knock them out of Europe’s premier club competition. And while Diego PEROTTI took no part in the match, FAZIO was a rock in the three man back line.

Having recently been selected by Argentina National Team coach Jorge SAMPAOLI for the the team’s last two friendly matches, there must not be any doubts based off of performances this season (and more specifically Tuesday’s performance) that the former Sevilla man must be on the plane to Russia.

For Lionel MESSI it means no Champions League trophy as this is where the road ends for him but a potential domestic double is still on the cards for them.

It wasn’t a great night for Nicolas OTAMENDI and Sergio AGUERO either as they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Liverpool. OTAMENDI started the match for Manchester City ahead of captain Vincent KOMPANY and while he had a solid individual performance it wasn’t enough to overturn a 3-0 first leg deficit to make it to the semi-finals.

Sergio AGUERO came on as a substitute for David SILVA but it was too little too late as Liverpool had already scored and the Brazilian FIRMINO added a second to win 2-1 and eliminate Pep GUARDIOLA’s men.

Two friendly matches for Argentina in May

The Argentina National Team will play two friendly matches in May.

With preparations for the World Cup up and running, LioneL MESSI and co will play two friendly matches prior to flying off to Israel in June. Per a tweet by Fernando CZYZ of TNT Sports, the Argentina National Team will play the first friendly match on May 24 with the opponent to be announced at a later date. However, at the moment, the opposition is rumored to be Bolivia.

A second match will take place on May 29 and while Nicaragua was confirmed as the opponent, there were some things which still need to be confirmed and Costa Rica have emerged as a possible opponent. One match will be played outside of Buenos Aires while the second will take place either at Boca’s stadium or at Velez’s stadium.

Jorge SAMPAOLI and his team will then travel to Barcelona on May 30 and while they will spend a few days in the Catalan city, they will not play any matches in the country. Their next (and final game prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup) will come on June 6 in Tel Aviv against Israel. After that, the team will travel to Russia for the tounrnament.

Lionel MESSI scores hat-trick in FC Barcelona win

Hey everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The man has done it again. This has put a smile to my face on the weekend. Lionel MESSI has scored another hat-trick on the weekend versus La Liga team Leganes. It is his 40th of his Barcelona career; a very impressive feat to say the least.  Barcelona have also equaled the record: longest unbeaten run in La Liga history which is now at 38 unbeaten league games. His hat-trick saw him join Liverpool’s Mohamed SALAH at the top of Europe with 29 goals which equal to 58 points in the European Golden Shoe ranking. This has been another great season for the wonderful MESSI and Barcelona.

Check out his goals:

Do you think it would have been different with MESSI on the field against Spain in that last international friendly? Can MESSI actually inspire our national team players during the World Cup? Feel free to discuss it all here!

As always,

VAMOS ARGENTINA!!

Paulo DYBALA scores hat trick against Benevento

It wasn’t the best week for him in Europe but Paulo DYBALA didn’t let that diminish his confidence when Juventus travelled to Benevento.

DYBALA bagged a hat-trick in Juve’s 4-2 win as the Turin side took another step closer to retaining their Serie A title once again. He opened the scoring for Juventus in the 16th minute with a powerful left footed strike pass Christian PUGONI. The home side equalized through Cheik DIABATE just eight minutes later. But Juventus regained their lead just before half time courtesy of a penalty which DYBALA scored from the spot.

The home side didn’t back down as DIABATE scored once more but that too didn’t last as DYBALA netted for a second time from the spot. Douglas COSTA scored Juve’s fourth to complete the win for the Grand Old Lady.

Moments after heading into the locker room, DYBALA dedicated his performance to his mother as a birthday gift. Here he is on his Instagram, posing together with the game ball.

Mami, acá te llevo el regalo 😜🎉🎁 feliz cumple ma, te amo ♥️

Congratulations to DYBALA on his hat-trick and a happy birthday to his mother. Fully deserving weekend for him after receiving so much criticism for the sending off against Real Madrid.

Now we’ll just have to wait and see if this is good enough to convince Jorge SAMPAOLI to include him for the Russian party.

Fabricio Bustos being followed by Bayern Munich

According to Diario Ole, Fabricio BUSTOS is currently being followed by Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian side has identified the 21-year-old as a possible replacement for RAFINHA who would be leaving this summer. It appears the release clause set by his current club Independiente is somewhere between $5 and $20 million. Meanwhile, BUSTOS has reportedly been taking courses in German as part of his preparation should this move materialize.
