Mauro ICARDI: “It surprised me to be on Olympics list”

0

Mauro ICARDI has commented on being chosen for the preliminary list of players for the 2016 Olympics. He also spoke about the National Team, Maxi LOPEZ and more.

“I’m a fan of Newell’s. My idol as a kid was Lucas BERNARDI”.

“It surprised me to be in the preliminary list for the Olympics because they said I wouldn’t be on it. It is great to be on the list for the Olympics because it is a reward for my performances at Inter.”

“I understand the media coverage regarding my relationship with Wanda. But it’s been 3 years. I prefer they judge me for my playing. Only in Italy do they talk about me for my goals. I’m wearing the armband that ZANETTI used to wear. Everyone knows how I am in the Inter locker room. But in Argentina, no one knows me”.

“Argentina has the best forwards in the world. My biggest honor would be playing with the National Team.”

Regarding his personal life between his wife Wanda and his former team-mate Maxi LOPEZ:
“I was a friend of the couple, an acquaintance, and it was all very normal. After that, he and Wanda split up and we kept in touch, and it just happened. I fell in love, that’s something you should judge solely on its own merits. But he was not my best friend or anything like that. We were team-mates at Sampdoria and nothing else.”

Argentine Primera División

Hello everyone,
I’d like to begin implementing more often la Primera División Argentina as well into our discussions.  It is after all where all our amazing players from la seleccion began their careers.  I know a lot of us may not be as familiar with this league as it doesn’t have as much exposure as the European Leagues, but it is definitely an exciting league to keep track of.
Here is this weekend’s schedule.  Some great matches I will be definitely be keeping an eye on are: Estudiantes vs Newell’s, Independiente vs San Lorenzo, River vs Velez, Huracan vs Racing, Argentinos vs Boca and Rosario Central vs Gimnasia La Plata.  I always like watching Martin Benitez, Nicholas Tagliafico (Independiente), Gustavo Bou (Racing), Adrian Cubas (Boca), Santiago Ascacibar (Estudiantes), Lucas Alario (River), Giovani Lo Celso and  Franco Cervi (Central).  There are many more that we can discuss here.

Hey everyone!

It’s a pleasure to present to you with my first posting! Thank you for all the warm wishes and support, I really appreciate it. I am here to assist the mundoalbiceleste team so that we can continue growing. I will try to incorporate more of the Primera Division as well as I know you guys have been requesting this. You guys are going to love the new changes coming up very soon!

So as Gerardo “Tata” Martino cannot win at the Monumental stadium, it looks like AFA have decided to play all their remaining friendlies and qualifiers of 2016 in the interior of the country. What do you guys think of this? Do you guys think this a good idea? I personally think it is a great idea as it looks like there is more passion in the interior. What has happened to the fans in Buenos Aires!?

I’ve summed up our upcoming home matches below:

Friendly:
May 27: There has been a friendly confirmed vs Honduras but the location in Argentina has not been determined as of yet. It will be a send off before the boys depart for the Copa America.

Qualifier:
September 1st: at the Malvinas Argentinas Stadium in Mendoza VS Uruguay.

Qualifier:
October 11: at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Córdoba VS Paraguay.

Qualifier:
November 15: at the Bicentenario Stadium in San Juan VS Colombia.

First update on Mundo! Introducing…

0

Hello everyone!

I’ve mentioned in the past few months that there will be changes coming to Mundo and it starts today. But before we get to it, a little update. I can now let you know that we are working very hard on changing the look of Mundo Albiceleste. That’s right, taking your ideas into account, we will be introducing a new look here onto Mundo in (what we hope) will be prior to the Copa America.

The new look will also mean it will be mobile friendly and some new features (a page for the World Cup Qualifiers as an example). Again, we are working very hard on that!

But down to business and what this post is really about! We here at Mundo Albiceleste would like to view this website as a family. And family’s grow and at Mundo Albiceleste, that’s no exception. What was once a blog run by Seba Garcia then became a team of two when John was introduced to the team. Afterwards, I was given the opportunity to help out in posting news. Later on, Ziggy came and put his touch of magic and turned the blog into a website. Six years after Ziggy’s introduction to Mundo, it’s our great honor to bring in Mundo’s very own Julian!

Some of you might know Julian as Juli2014 from the comments. And while he will continue to dish out his opinion, he will now also be helping us out in delivering you news regarding the Albiceleste.

Julian will no doubt be a massive help and I look forward to working with him and the rest of the Mundo community in our goal of world dominance!… Or at least making Mundo your #1 place for Argentina National Team news! 😉

Here’s a little something about Julian himself!

Julian De Agostino

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada to Argentine parents.  He was 5 years old when he first fell in love with the Albiceleste.  His earliest memories are from the 1986 World Cup and he can remember his father crying and going nuts in front of the TV screen.  He remembers his father telling him later on why he cried.  He explained what Las Malvinas was all about and what that specific World Cup meant to Argentina.  It was like Argentina’s revenge against England. The hand of god as Diego called it.  From then on there was no going back.  He was faithful follower of the Albiceleste ever since.

As he has Argentina parents, he has traveled to Argentina many times and still does to this day. He’s also lived in Buenos Aires for about 3 years.  He came across the online world of English speaking Albiceleste fans during the 2006 World Cup.  It was the http://argentina.worldcupblog.org/ website where he began to discuss everything related to the Albiceleste.  He then also was asked to become an administrator as well.  Unfortunately this website shut down.

He looks forward to being part of this great group!
