Claudio UBEDA: “An U20 World Cup has a lot of importance”

Argentina U20 National Team coach Claudio UBEDA spoke about the team.

With the U20 World Cup approaching, the current Argentina U20 coach Claudio UBEDA spoke in an interview with Ataque Futbolero regarding the team, the players and more. Here’s what he had to say:

Claudio UBEDA on the players:

“We hope we won’t have any problem with the kids. An U20 World Cup has a lot of importance. The kids from the U20 team don’t have cellular phones nearby and that helps. They have to be concentrated.”

Claudio UBEDA on the U20 World Cup:

“We are sure we’re going to have a great performance at the U20 World Cup. We have grown a lot and new players will be incorporated. We are going to play against Vietnam’s U20 and U23 teams in preperation for the U20 World Cup.”

Claudio UBEDA on Lionel MESSI and the senior team:

“I’m not thinking of the senior team. I am thinking about the U20 World Cup. There should be a rule for the players to be available for the U20 team.”

“The lawyer who is handling MESSI’s case is first class.”

Regarding player selection, the word is that Independiente will not allow Ezequiel BARCO to play the U20 World Cup.

Roberto AYALA: “I want to win and qualify for the World Cup”

Argentina legend Roberto AYALA has commented about the Argentina National Team’s current situation.

Roberto AYALA, who was capped 115 times for Argentina, has spoken about the team’s current situation, the change of coaches, Gabriel BATISTUTA and more. Speaking in an interview with Super Deportivo Radio, here’s what he had to say:

About Argentina and the World Cup:

“I don’t want to play beautifully, I want to win and qualify for the World Cup. In these four matches, I don’t want to play nice, I want to win and qualify. We have to prepare to win. We can’t allow ourselves to watch a World Cup on television. With the players we have, we aren’t Venezuela or Bolivia. Here, a coach has a lot of options when it comes to putting together a team. There could be changes right before the World Cup because there are players who are playing and raising their form.”

About Edgardo BAUZA and the coaches:

“I’ve always said that coaches have to be supported. BAUZA had guarantees to be there and stay on with Argentina until the World Cup. I don’t like it when projects are cut off. For me, during hard times, I like to support. I hope that the change of leaders will be a restart and a new foundation at the AFA and our football.”

“These coaches have the responsibility to show us that we could go back and believe in Argentine football.”

“I want my National Team to be present at the World Cup. I won’t judge or analyze SAMPAOLI in advance. Either way, I like him. He’s young and has taken advantage of his teams.”

About the players not shaking Gabriel BATISTUTA’s hand:

“It sounds strange about BATISTUTA. I’m completely out of it. The truth is I don’t know what happened. BATI’s a large figure, he was the top goalscorer of our National Team. It’s a shame to know what we all know about it. I won’t dare say anything more because the truth is I don’t know the players and they surely have something to say about it.”

Pablo AIMAR could join Jorge SAMPAOLI’s Argentina staff

A report has Pablo AIMAR joining Jorge SAMPAOLI’s Argentina staff.

While Jorge SAMPAOLI is still coaching Spanish club Sevilla, the media in Argentina is already speculating about who would be on his coaching staff should he manage the Argentina National Team. Fox Sports Argentina is reporting that Pablo AIMAR would join Jorge SAMPAOLI’s Argentina staff.

We reported earlier that Lionel SCALONI would be part of Jorge SAMPAOLI’s Argentina staff. Both Pablo AIMAR and Lionel SCALONI were part of Argentina’s 2006 World Cup team.

Lionel MESSI to appeal four match Argentina ban

Lionel MESSI will appeal his four match ban with Argentina.

As we reported last week, FIFA have invited Lionel MESSI to defend himself and appeal his four match suspension which he received. A report from TyC Sports has stated that the Argentina captain will fly to Zurich on May 4 where he would meet with FIFA officials to discuss his ban.

The rumor is that should MESSI appear in Zurich, his four match ban would be reduced to two matches. MESSI has already served one match, when Argentina lost 2-0 to Bolivia last month in a World Cup qualifying match.

MESSI received his ban after he appeared to curse at an official following Argentina’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying win against Chile. Should the ban be reduced to two matches, it would mean that he would miss Argentina’s next World Cup Qualifier on August 31 against Uruguay in Montevideo but would be back for the home World Cup Qualifier on September 5 against Venezuela.

The crowning jewel of Juventus has come out and spoken about the World Cup, Lionel MESSI and more. Speaking with TyC Sports regarding Argentina’s World Cup situation and Lionel MESSI, here’s what he had to say:

Paulo DYBALA on Argentina:

“I can’t imagine a World Cup without Argentina. I also want to win a World Cup, like all Argentinians. We try to help Leo (MESSI) to achieve that.”

Paulo DYBALA on Lionel MESSI comparison:

“I’m not angry that they compare me with MESSI. But like MARADONA, there’s only one. I also believe there’s a big difference between he and I. I want to do a lot of things with him and win. We’re both Argentinians and we have to enjoy playing together.”

Paulo DYBALA on Juventus:

“It’s the best moment of my career. I feel really good on the pitch, I’m at a club that has nothing to be envious of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich about. The fans, my team-mates and the club have made me feel like this. That’s why I had no problem renewing.”

“This club competes for all the tournaments it takes part in, it’s the biggest club in Italy and from the moment I arrived they have helped me to become aware that we have to win everything we play for, against any opponent and on any pitch.”
