Manchester City reported to FIFA by Velez over Benjamin GARRE

21

Throughout the years (more lie decades), there’s been a lot of Argentine players to make the switch over the Atlantic.

But a recent one has triggered Velez Sarsfield to report Manchester City to FIFA after the English club signed him at the age of 16 back in July. City signed GARRE (grandson of 1986 World Cup winner Oscar GARRE) but the Argentine club aren’t happy with the way it went down.

The rules laid out by FIFA over signing youth players prevent clubs from signing a player who is under the age of 16 (if they are outside of the EU). The situation appears to be that City are being accused of approaching GARRE when he was still 15, thus potentially breaking a FIFA rule. Velez Sarsfield president Raul GAMEZ had this to say (credit to quotes from The Telegraph):

“In Vélez, we defend values and we act in good faith. We are not interested in collecting €50,000 or €1,000,000 if said action is prohibited and may affect the player.”

“What is most important in these cases is the formation and development of the child, in a supportive environment, above economic or strictly sports interests. It is crazy to think that our youngsters can find themselves in a situation of vulnerability or abuse in a foreign country, without their family or somebody to protect them.”

“We consider Manchester City is a club that cannot violate the regulations of Fifa and even less act with bad faith. We are interested in protecting the child we have been educating since he was 11 and therefore, if necessary, we will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

Here are the three restrictions to the rule which would allow a club to sign a player under the age of 16:

-If a transfer is caused due to the players’ parents moving due to work reasons.
-If a transfer is to a club within 50km of the border of the country.
-If a transfer takes place within the European Union of a player over the age of 16.

GAMEZ stated: “None of these exceptions apply to Benjamín GARRE, who travelled to England without his parents.”

Which formation would you play against Peru?

57

With news hitting that Lionel MESSI is out for October’s World Cup Qualifying matches, which formation would you go with?

Against Venezuela, we saw a depleted Argentina in attack and one that was not very pretty to watch, despite managing to come back from being down two goals. Against Peru, with MESSI out yet again, which formation would best suit Argentina, considering the players which have been called-up?

Obviously formations are very flexible and nothing is set in stone, but how would you line-up Argentina? Would it be a 4-3-3,
4-3-1-2, 4-2-2, 4-2-3-1 or would you even go with 3 at the back? What would be your starting line-up?

Lionel MESSI out for 3 weeks, to miss Argentina WCQ matches

Lionel MESSI will miss next month’s World Cup Qualifiers.

Not a sight football fans (more specifically Barcelona and Argentina fans) like to see. Lionel MESSI being substituted off due to injury. On Wednesday as Barcelona played against Atletico Madrid, Lionel MESSI pulled out with what appeared to be a groin injury, the same one which kept him out for Argentina against Venezuela earlier in the month.

A report by FC Barcelona confirms that MESSI has a groin strain in his right leg and he will be out for around 3 weeks. Argentina’s next match is early next month, on October 6 when they visit Peru. After that, comes the home match against Paraguay on Tuesday, October 11 in Buenos Aires.

No word yet on whether or not Edgardo BAUZA will call-up a replacement.

A total of six Argentine’s scored for their clubs on Wednesday.

To add to the two goals scored on Tuesday by David ABRAHAM and Gabriel MERCADO, Angel CORREA, Mauro ICARDI, Gonzalo HIGUAIN, Erik LAMELA, Pablo DE BLASIS and Lucas CASTRO all scored on Wednesday.

Angel CORREA came off the bench and scored for Atletico Madrid in their 1-1 draw against Barcelona at the Camp Nou. CORREA capitalized on a MASCHERANO slip as he was left alone with TER STEGEN and slotted the ball off the post and in.

Mauro ICARDI scored twice in 7 minutes in Inter’s 2-0 win against Empoli. ICARDI’s first goal was yet another header and the second a perfectly rolled in pass to him as he beat the goalkeeper with a calm finish.

Gonzalo HIGUAIN scored for Juventus in their 4-0 win against Cagliari. Paulo DYBALA also took part in the match.

Pablo DE BLASIS scored in the 92nd minute to give Mainz the 2-1 win against Werder Bremen. The goal was his third of the season.

New Edgardo BAUZA discussion and commentary!

39

Coach el Paton Bauza spoke with Radio Continental where he discussed and gave very specific information on his players.  He said there are three players that are set in stone for him.  They are: Otamendi, Funes Mori, and Mascherano.  I have tried my best to paraphrase what he said for those who cannot understand or read Spanish.

On Pablo Zabaleta:

“For the matches against Uruguay and Venezuela I decided on him (instead of Gabriel Mercado) because he may come out better with the ball but they are very similar.  I’m not worried about my decision because I know the one that I pick will be fine.”

On Sergio Agüero:

“He’s starting to lift his level for his club.  He looks a lot better physically.  I think it’s good that Guardiola makes his run more now, that modification has helped so that he could participate a lot more in the last 30 meters of the field.  We’ll see how he plays.”

On Sergio Romero:

“With him I have no doubt, today he is the starting goalkeeper for the National Team.”

On Ángel Di María:

“I think that his nervousness that he has does not allow him to finish what he starts. For all his dynamic, velocity, and technique he should be finishing a lot better all the plays that he starts.  From the tactical point of view he’s a very intelligent player but he needs to start contributing everything that he used to as it was different.  He needs to be calmed down, relaxed, so that he can go back to what he used to be.”

On Lucas Alario:

“He is the future of the national team and if he doesn’t play I still want him with the team, so that he could gel with the other players because that will him as he could play at any moment.”

On Lionel Messi

“When he gets the ball he can throw off balance a team.  Everyone is always expecting him to score or for him to invent something that will produce a problem for the rival but I think we need to learn how to play with and without him.”

On Marcos Rojo and Emmanuel Mas:

“They are the players that give me the most confidence even though a lot of people might not like this.  Defensively, the team hasn’t had big problems but you need to keep improving and we’re looking at other players in this position but for now they are the ones who could play.”

On Lucas Pratto:

“He holds the ball well; he knows how to play with his back facing the defense and he knows how to trick defenders.”

On Mauro Icardi:

“He’s a player that could be picked at any time but that does invalidate those players that I have selected because the ones that are there have the same priority and are doing well just like he is.  If he continues the way he is playing, he is part of the 60 players that we are following and they could be called up.  No player on this team has told me that if he comes there might be problems.  Whatever player that deserves a call up will be here.”

On Martín Demichelis:

“Everything that he contributes in every training, in every gathering, and in every discussion is invaluable.”

On another note:

Bauza also mentioned how he plans to line up the team before every match.  He said he’s going to play with a 9 well placed in the area; it could be Pratto, Higuain, or Alario, but someone will always be placed in this area.

In regards to his latest call up: “I called up the same players to repeat the training that we did.”  He also said that he is following closely various players: Emiliano Insúa, Santiago García (Werder Bremen) and Nicolás Tagliafico.
