Diego PEROTTI scores cheeky penalty, Esteban CAMBIASSO scores

Diego PEROTTI and Esteban CAMBIASSO both found the back of the net for their clubs in the Europa League.

Diego PEROTTI scored a very cheeky and calm penalty kick in Roma’s 1-1 draw against Plzen. PEROTTI’s run up to take the penalty kick wasn’t much of a run-up but rather a walk with a slight pause before placing the ball to the goalkeeper’s right.

Esteban CAMBIASSO scored for Olympiacos in their 1-0 win against Young Boys. The 36 year old scored from close range to give his club the 3 points in their Europa LEague match.

Copa Sudamericana round-up

Independiente with a 1-0 win against Lanus (3-0 over two matches) as they make the Round of 16. Martin BENITEZ with the goal. Gabriel MILITO’s team will play Chapecoense of Brazil in the next round.

On Tuesday, it was San Lorenzo who barely qualified (literally) as they defeated Banfield 4-1 to advance to the next round with a 4-3 total on aggregate. They’ll play Deportivo La Guaira of Venezuela in the next round. Matias CARUZZO (who had 4 caps for Argentina under the crazy Diego MARADONA days), Nicolas BLANDI (scored twice) and Martin CAUTERUCCIO of Uruguay were the goalscorers.

There’s still one more match to go between Estudiantes and Belgrano on Thursday night. That is currently 1-0 for Estudiantes with tonight’s match being played in Cordoba (Belgrano would be at home). The winner of that tie goes on to play Coritiba of Brazil.

Edgardo BAUZA to announce list on Friday, AGUERO/HIGUAIN/ICARDI

29

Edgardo BAUZA is expected to announce his list of players for Argentina’s October World Cup Qualifying matches on Friday.

BAUZA will announce his list on Friday and there’s some news about it. According to reports from Argentina, Mauro ICARDI will NOT be called-up this time around to the National Team. However, judging by BAUZA’s recent quotes from Thursday, both Gonzalo HIGUAIN and Sergio AGUERO could likely be back in the team.

Here’s what BAUZA had to say about the new list:
“I don’t think it’ll differ much from the last one because we had such little time working together and I want to take advantage and build on the work we’ve already done. Except for AGUERO and HIGUAIN, I will speak to them and after that make my decision.”

“AGUERO scored 3 goals (against Borussia Monchengladbach) but he had a knock on the knee. Hopefully it’s nothing. But before I can confirm anything, I want to talk with him. We’ll see who’s there and who isn’t.”

“We’re close to taking a decision about if he can be called-up or not, because we have to take into account that we don’t have the player with us. At the club, they see how he’s doing, if he’s doing well or not. Those decisions are different than ours. For that reason, I’m going to try and have as much information as possible.”

The report about Mauro ICARDI not being called-up is not set in stone as it’s just something floating in the media. As mentioned, the list will be out on Friday and we will have it here on Mundo Albiceleste!
