Armando PEREZ to head the AFA, news on new coach

Armando PEREZ will head the AFA until the next elections.

FIFA have elected Cordoba’s Belgrano president Armando Perez as the head of the AFA until elections are held in the federation. PEREZ has already stated that he will speak to Carlos BILARDO, Alfio BASILE and Cesar Luis MENOTTI. According to PEREZ, “We have the obligation to listen to them”.

Regarding a new coach, PEREZ said he doesn’t have “a preference regarding the coach of the National Team but it should be an election done quickly.”

About the youth teams: “The results show that we have to change some things in youth football.”

Pablo ZABALETA back in Manchester City training

Pablo ZABALETA is back training with Manchester City.

Despite being heavily linked with Italian club AS Roma, ZABALETA took part in his first training session of the new season. He had missed the end of last season along with the Copa America due to an ankle injury. He, along with Bruno ZUCULINI and Willy CABALLERO (both of which have taken part in every training session of the pre-season) all trained under GUARDIOLA.

It remains to be seen whether or not ZABALETA will be staying with the club. Here are highlights of the training session:

Rodrigo DE PAUL heading to Udinese

According to reports, DE PAUL is currently in Italy to join the club.

Rodrigo DE PAUL will sign a one season loan deal with Udinese which will cost them about 3 million euro’s. The winger is still owned by Valencia and spent the past 6 months on loan at his boyhood club Racing Club in Argentina.

It is unknown whether or not Udinese will have a buy option in the contract.

Eduardo SALVIO shines for Benfica in win

Eduardo SALVIO assisted and scored for Benfica in their 4-0 win against Derby County.

SALVIO scored Benfica’s fourth goal in their 4-0 win in the Algarve Cup against English club Derby County. SALVIO assisted the third goal and scored the fourth (a great run accross the area and a tap in finish) to seal Benfica’s victory.

SALVIO also had this little piece of trickery in the match.

Argentina Olympic team in the USA

The Argentina Olympic Team have landed in the United States.

The team have landed and are currently in Boca Raton, Florida preparing for their friendly matches against Colombia and Haiti. The team already trained on Monday, doing light work. At the end of the training session, the team was greeted by 1986 World Cup winner Oscar GARRE.

They are staying at the Renaissance Hotel in Boca Raton.
