Winner announced for September Giveaway: 2006 Argentina Away Jersey

We’re thrilled to announce the winner of our September giveaway! The 2006 Argentina Away Retro Jersey, worn by players such as Juan Román Riquelme, Esteban Cambiasso, and Hernán Crespo, goes to Celia Mendez.

The draw took place on Tuesday at Inter Miami’s Chase Stadium, ahead of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami 5-3 loss against the Chicago Fire.

Agustín Giay, Aníbal Moreno and Lautaro Rivero rumored to make Argentina national team

Agustín Giay, Aníbal Moreno and Lautaro Rivero are rumored to make the Argentina national team for October.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni could include new players for October’s friendly matches against Venezuela and Puerto Rico. According to DSports, Scaloni could call up a few surprises with Giay, Moreno and Rivero being included.

Giay of Palmeiras could be called up to the team and given an opportunity as right back. Argentina’s current right backs are Nahuel Molina and Gonzalo Montiel.

Aníbal Moreno, also with Palmeiras, could be called to the team. A defensive and central midfielder, Moreno could be given a chance in place of the injured Exequiel Palacios of Bayer Leverkusen.

Lautaro Rivero of River Plate could be a player included for the October matches. The 21 year old centre-back has started five of the 10 league matches for River Plate.

Lionel Scaloni is expected to announce the team on Friday for the October friendly matches.

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca spoke about Alejandro Garnacho’s performance against Benfica.

Alejandro Garnacho started for Chelsea in their 1-0 win against Benfica in the Champions League. The Argentine played the cross in for the own goal in Chelsea’s win and Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca spoke to TNT Sports after the match. Here is what he had to say about Garnacho:

“Garnacho was very good today. Not only on the ball but defensively… he was very good in the way he pressed.

“In the last third he has freedom to go one-v-one when he decides. To arrive in the box is important because it’s from there we score.”

Argentine players in the Champions League preview, Claudio Echeverri and Equi Fernández

The Champions League continues on Wednesday and five of the matches involve Argentine players.

In Wednesday’s early matches, Kevin Mac Allister and Union Saint-Gilloise play Newcastle United. Mac Allister had scored for Union Saint-Gilloise in their first match.

Qarabag FK play against FC Copenhagen in Wednesday’s second early match. Aarón Anselmino will miss Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League match against Athletic Club due to injury.

Juan Foyth and Villarreal host Juventus while Francisco Ortega, Lorenzo Scipioni and Santiago Hezze will play against Arsenal. Bayer Leverkusen will be without Exequiel Palacios who is out due to injury but will have Equi Fernández and Claudio Echeverri when they host PSV. Here are the matches for Wednesday in the Champions League:
