Matías Soulé scored a Puskas goal contender in Argentina U23’s 4-2 win vs. Mexico.

Soule scored one of the best goals of the year with Thiago Almada scoring the first and Lucas Beltrán scoring two for Argentina. Javier Mascherano fielded a strong team and bench in their win.

The Argentina U23 team were awarded a penalty and it was Thiago Almada who took it and scored to give Argentina the 1-0 lead. Almada gave Argentina the lead and Soulé scored the goal of the match.

Garcia played a cross into the penalty area and Soulé would flick it on with his left foot and score one of the best goals. Mexico would draw level at 2-2 going into the second half.

Lucas Beltrán would give Argentina the 3-2 lead just three minutes after half time. A flick pass by Medina to Solari and his effort was saved by the goalkeeper but Beltrán would score on the rebound.

Solari would get another assist for a Beltrán goal. He would win the ball back on the wing, cut inside and dribble a defender, passing the ball to Beltrán who would score from close range.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni: “We are not lacking players for the Copa America”

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference after the team’s 3-0 win vs. El Salvador about the players he has in the team.

Lionel Scaloni started 2024 with a 3-0 win and made a few changes to the team which would normally start and also gave the chance to young players against El Salvador. Scaloni spoke to the media after the match, here is what he had to say:

“I plan to make more chances in the next match against Costa Rica.”

Nehuén Pérez played as a right back against El Salvador and Nicolás Tagliafico as a center back. Scaloni commented on some of the changes:

“Nahuel Molina came with a small sprained ankle and could not train the first few days. Those who are normally with us could not come due to injury and we gave the chance to Nehuén (Pérez), who, it’s not his natural position but he’s done it well.”

Valentín Barco also played his first match for Argentina, brought on as a substitute:

“I wanted to see him and give him the opportunity to debut. We liked how Barco approached the trainings. Obviously he has to correct a lot of things but for his age, he has a lot of potential and you have to exploit that.”

Up front, it was Lautaro Martínez who started and Scaloni spoke about Lautaro not scoring:

“Lautaro (Martínez) is scoring for his team and he will score here. He played a good match, we are very calm with him.”

Scaloni spoke about the Copa America:

“We are not lacking players for the Copa America but rather we have plenty. It is a very nice problem to put together that list. We will always think about what is best for the team.”

Rodrigo De Paul: “The most important thing is that Scaloni is here with us”

Rodrigo De Paul spoke about the importance of Lionel Scaloni remaining with the team and Lionel Messi.

De Paul started the match for Argentina in their 3-0 win vs. El Salvador and spoke to the media after the win. Here is what he had to say:

“The most important thing is that Scaloni is here with us to continue forward. We must prepare for the Copa America.

“We were born competing, we always want to win. What is difficult is maintaining this standard, it is not a motivational issue.

“No one guarantees us that we will keep winning but if we push ourselves internally the way we do, we have a lot of chances.”

The World Cup winner also spoke about Lionel Messi and his fitness:

“We hope that Leo (Messi) recovers, he is our captain. He is always present in one way or another. If he is fine, we have the ace of spades.”

Cristian Romero speaks about scoring for Argentina against El Salvador

Cristian Romero spoke about scoring for the Argentina national team against El Salvador.

Romero scored Argentina’s first goal in their 3-0 win vs. El Salvador and he now has three goals with the Argentina national team. The 25 year old spoke about his goal, the team and the young players. Here is what he had to say:

“We played a great game. We keep growing, they are the last matches before the Copa America and we continue with the same motivation and the same desire to have the national team at the top.

“We have a great group to keep achieving things. I always see Leo (Scaloni) well, with the same desire as always.”

“It’s always nice to score with the national team. I emphasize that the important thing is that this team plays in the same way against any rival.”

In regards to Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Buonanotte:

“I have faced Garnacho and Buonanotte and I know they have enormous potential.”

Argentina dominate in 3-0 win vs. El Salvador

The Argentina national team dominated in their 3-0 win vs. El Salvador.

Argentina won their first match of 2024 with three goals scored by players from the Premier League. Angel Di Maria took a corner kick and it was Cristian Romero who scored off a header to give Argentina the 1-0 lead.

Lionel Scaloni’s team scored a second before the second half. A great team goal down and a ball played into the penalty area off the wing fell to Enzo Fernandez who scored from close range.

Scaloni made two changes at half time with Alejandro Garnacho and Nicolas Otamendi substituted in for Nicolas Gonzalez and Enzo Fernandez. Argentina would score one more goal.

Arguably the goal of the match, Gio Lo Celso was at the end of a quick passing play and he scored for Argentina. Valentin Barco made his Argentina debut, substituted in for Nicolas Tagliafico.

Facundo Buonanotte, Nahuel Molina and Alexis Mac Allister were all substituted in for Rodrigo De Paul, Cristian Romero and Gio Lo Celso.
