Argentine manager Miguel Ángel Russo passes away

Legendary Argentine manager Miguel Ángel Russo has passed away.

Miguel Ángel Russo passed away on Wednesday, October 8, at 69 years of age. The Boca Juniors coach had been battling illness for several years and was recently admitted to a hospital.

As a player, Miguel Ángel Russo only wore the red and white of Estudiantes, playing over 400 matches with the club and winning two league titles.

As a manager, coached numerous clubs in Argentina, including a Copa Libertadores in 2007 with Boca Juniors. In 2012-2013, he won promotion with Rosario Central, bringing them from the second division to the first division in Argentina.

On behalf of everyone at Mundo Albiceleste, we would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Miguel Ángel Russo. May he rest in peace.

Argentina U20 national team win 4-0 vs. Nigeria at U20 World Cup

The Argentina U20 national team won 4-0 against Nigeria at the U20 World Cup.

Diego Placente’s team have qualified for the quarter finals of the U20 World Cup in Chile. Alejo Sarco made it four goals in four games at the World Cup, scoring the first goal to give Argentina the 1-0 lead.

Maher Carrizo scored two goals and Mateo Silvetti scored the last goal of the match in Argentina’s 4-0 win.

Álvaro Montoro was substituted out with a right shoulder injury. Argentina will play Mexico on Saturday in the quarter finals.

Argentina U20 national team coach Diego Placente has named his starting eleven for their Round of 16 match against Nigeria at the U20 World Cup.

The Argentina U20 national team will play Nigeria and Diego Placente has named the following starting eleven:

Santino Barbi; Dylan Gorosito, Valente Pierani, Tobías Ramírez, Julio Soler; Valentino Acuña, Milton Delgado, Álvaro Montoro; Ian Subiabre, Alejo Sarco and Maher Carrizo

Argentina vs. Puerto Rico moved to be moved to Tuesday at Chase stadium

Argentina against Puerto Rico is set to take place on Tuesday and at Inter Miami’s Chase stadium.

The Argentina national team was initially set to play Puerto Rico on Monday, October 13 in Chicago but that match was moved to take place in Miami. According to Gastón Edul, the match will now take place on Tuesday, October 14 at Chase stadium in Florida.

Lisandro Martínez could return in end of October

Lisandro Martínez could return on for the Argentina national team and Manchester United by the end of October.

Martínez has been out with a knee injury since February and he could be returning onto the pitch soon. According to TyC Sports, the 27 year old is back on the pitch training with a ball but not doing full football work.

He underwent an MRI last week with the results coming out no problems.
