Manchester United could give Alejandro Garnacho permission for U20 World Cup

Manchester United could give Alejandro Garnacho permission to play at the U20 World Cup pending a result.

Following Manchester United’s elimination from the Europa League, the team could give Alejandro Garnacho permission to be with the Argentina team and participate at the U20 World Cup.

Argentina U20 coach Javier Mascherano included Garnacho in the preliminary list for the U20 World Cup but initial reports stated that Manchester United would not be releasing the player for the tournament. According to Gastón Edul, that could change.

With United eliminated from the Europa League, should they get eliminated against Brighton in the FA Cup, the idea might change and they might release him for the U20 World Cup which will be held in Argentina. He also states that Garnacho is “dying with desire” to play.

Brighton play Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Lautaro Martínez and Joaquín Correa both scored for Inter in their 3-3 draw vs. Benfica.

Martínez and Correa were both on the scoresheet for Inter as they eliminated Benfica and qualified for the semi finals of the Champions League. With the score at 1-1, it was a pass into the penalty area by Dimarco and a first time finish by the Argentine gave Inter the 2-1 lead.

Correa would score his first goal in the Champions League this season a few minutes later. He would get the ball inside the penalty area and similar to Enzo’s goal for Argentina vs. Mexico, he would dribble beyond his marker and curl one passed the goalkeeper.

Benfica would go on and draw the match 3-3 but Inter would qualify with a 5-3 aggregate win.

Manchester United don’t want to release Alejandro Garnacho for U20 World Cup

Manchester United do not want to release Alejandro Garnacho for the U20 World Cup.

Alejandro Garnacho has been included in Javier Mascherano’s preliminary list of players for the U20 World Cup next month and there is already some push back. According to TyC Sports, Manchester United do not want to release Garnacho for the tournament.

They have already communicated it to the AFA. Mascherano and the AFA will do everything possible to get him for Argentina but it is complicated.

Because the U20 World Cup is not part of the FIFA calendar, clubs outside of Argentina are not obliged to release their players.

AFA approves rule for Argentine clubs to release players

The AFA have approved a rule for Argentine clubs to release players for the national team.

Argentine clubs must now release their players to the Argentina national team, no matter the category. According to Hernán Castillo, a meeting within the AFA Was held in December and they approved that the clubs would have to release their players.

This has not always been the case, specifically for previous youth tournaments where clubs were not obliged and did not release their players for the national team.
