Gio Simeone scored for Napoli in their penalty shootout loss vs. Cremonese.

Simeone scored his first goal of the new year but it a loss vs. Cremonese in the Coppa Italia. With the score at 1-1, a cross into the penalty area found the Argentine who scored a header to give Napoli the lead.

The match would go to extra time and Simeone had a chance off a rebound which hit the crossbar. It went to penalty kicks and while Simeone would score his chance, Stanislav Lobotka would miss his and Cremonese would get the win.

Facundo Buonanotte to wear the 10 shirt for Argentina U20 team

Facundo Buonanotte will wear the number 10 shirt for the Argentina U20 national team.

Buonanotte is part of the Argentina U20 national team for the Sudamericano which will be played in January and February and he will wear the prestigious number. According to Mariano Antico, the new Brighton player will wear the 10 as Mascherano’s team will have the new three stars on the shirt.

The U20 Sudamericano will take place between January 19 and February 12 in Colombia. Argentina are in Group A with Colombia, Brazil, Paraguay and Peru.

The teams who finish in the top four will qualify for the 2023 U20 World Cup in Indonesia with the top three qualifying for the Pan American games, along with hosts Chile. Coach Javier Mascherano has announced the following 23 players for the tournament:

The Argentina national team are close to finalizing a deal to visit Bangladesh.

World champions Argentina have always had a massive following from fans in Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the surrounding countries. This support has been known on Mundo Albiceleste since the start of the site but has only reached full worldwide viewing at the World Cup.

There have been petitions for the Argentina national team to visit those countries and it looks like that will happen. According to BFF chief Salahuddin, here is what he said about Argentina possibly playing a friendly match:

“The proposed tour of Argentina in Bangladesh is almost finalized. Now the discussion is only on terms and conditions.

“They informed us that they want to come during Fifa window in June. If everything goes fine with terms and conditions, we can say they will come.”

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has commented about the possibility of coaching Spain.

Lionel Scaloni has won it all as coach of the Argentina national team. Speaking in an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, Scaloni commented about his contract renewal, Lionel Messi and Emiliano Martinez.

In the same interview, Scaloni spoke about possible coaching the Spanish national team. Here is what he had to say:

“Coaching Spain one day? Why not. Spain gave me a lot and is my second home.

“Luis de la Fuente taught me in coaching classes and he is a great guy.”

“Gavi or Pedri for the Argentina national team? I’d go with Pedri. I don’t know if he would play as a starter but I take him.”

Argentina national team Lionel Scaloni spoke about his Argentina contract renewal, Lionel Messi and Emiliano Martinez.

Lionel Scaloni has lifted three trophies with the Argentina national team. The 2021 Copa America, the 2022 Finalissima and the World Cup.

An incredible achievement for any coach, Scaloni had been speaking with the AFA management in regards to his contract renewal. Speaking in an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, here is what he had to say:

“I’ll be traveling to Buenos Aires these days. I hope to meet with the president and see if we reach the agreement we want. That’s the idea. I don’t know what day I will travel because now I’m enjoying myself with the family.

“I’m fine where I am. I’ll continue coaching. Being in the national team allows me to be at home, with the family, see my kids grow. At some point the moment will come to coach a club.

“I have the best relationship with him and I thank him for the opportunity he gave me to have been in charge of the national team.”

In regards to Argentina captain Lionel Messi:

“For me, Messi is the best in history. Maradona was great but with Leo I have something special.

“The first thing Aimar and I did when we got to the national team was to video call Messi.

“To press and to steal the ball, Messi is number one.”

Regarding goalkeeper and penalty shootout hero Emiliano Martinez:

“Dibu (Emiliano Martínez) has a personality that has given a lot to the team. It’s incredible what a good guy he is, you should know him.”

The last minute save by Martínez on Kolo Muani in the World Cup final:

“I have seen Dibu’s save several times… And if I go back to watch it, it might go in.

About the World Cup:

“I haven’t seen the (World Cup) final again. Until today, I think it was a shame we were not able to close the game in 90 minutes.”
