1. Sampaoli is unpredictable, He is watching all so all have chances, Still there is 8 more months so any player can improve their form & be selected too. But as per infos the core is set & that Core most probably includes Banega, Biglia & Di Maria too, so either we have to keep hating them or hope that they improve for US not for their Clubs. May be its too late to change the core players, Sampa likes players who are rebellious so Icardi, Papu Gomez have great chances too.

   • Imo , right winger, creative midfielder are the two positions to fix. I think sampoali has the fabric for rest of team. We shouldn’t think so much on fullbacks as we just don’t have a pool of world class fullbacks. Look at wingbacks & we should play to our strength. If sampaoli gets di Maria fitting into right winger/ right wingback, we can balance squad.

   • River midfielders like Pity and Nacho deserved a call up because they are younger than Lanus midfielders. Like it or not but it’s matter of time when Pity will be called up. For domestic squads fiendlies in February or after WC but it will happen. At the moment Lanus players were moree experienced and they were playing long time with stablized team. Mostly the same names since many months.

     • Pity style is too similar to Messi and Dybala, maybe after WC. Imo Lanus the favourite against Gremio with their experience and attitude, must score a goal in Brazil. Racing Club-Libertad tonight, Racing-Independiente derby in the semifinal?

       • Gremio is on fire. I didn’t watch of late of the team but it seems they are favourites not only for pundits. Lanus is team that historically deserved for title. One of the best of last 10 years in Argentina.

         Would be great to see derby of avellaneda.

   • Not to call him up is serious faux pas from Sampaoli. None of our current central midfielders has Battaglia’s tenacity, energy, physical strengh, stamina, pace and pressing abilities. Not even close.

     • Maybe besides Enzo. But Enzo is not that good defensively.

       • Actually Gonzalo Enzo is quite a beast at defending but i agree that Battaglia would be welcomed in the NT. He’s physically and mentally strong in addition to be being quite skilled with the ball, kind reminds me of Redondo alittle abit.

         • Battaglia looked good in yesterday match. Should definitely be tried & can be a great upgrade over biglia. Though Enzo had a good match vs equador, I think he is past his best. Battaglia & lanzini will be a solid midfield provided they get enough opportunities to play together & with team before wc. Perotti also was good yesterday against Chelsea.

   • Does Battaglia fit Sampa’s style? He is always playing zone marking, not man marking.

     • I like Battaglia but just don’t see him fit into Sampaoli’s playing philosophy.

       • Tweaks that sampaoli can definitely do. Battaglia’s pressing style will be more impactful than biglia. Going by sampaoli philosophy , players like banega wld not have qualified. I am sure coach can integrate players

7. Wats up with Maradona criticizing Icardi? Please leave this guy alone, yes he did made mistake but he didnt rape nobody. He just wants to play for Argentina and help NT. Maradona is advocating hugain simply because he hates icardi despite knowing that hugain will once again choke if he were to give same chances. Diego Perotti is good addition he deserved his palace.But we wants wingbacks more than wingers so that Messi doesn’t have to go deep in midfield for the recovery of ball because that affects his attacking threat in front of goal.In qualifier Banega Biglia were responsible for it.How Sampoli gonna to make messi dybla partnership? that will be interesting as they play in same position and same style of play

13. Erik Lamela is about to return to Spurs in 2 or 3 weeks. Sampoli should include him to Argentina squad.He is very creative player. He knows how to break down park the bus tactics which Argentina going to have against smaller teams in world cup.Before getting injured last year he played 67 premier league matches in two seasons second highest to Erickson(73). So I think he is not injury prone that much.
    During qualifier Lanzini was called by Sampoli when he was injured now he is fit and he becomes his PLAN B.I don’t understand.Why?
    Sampoli goes with the likes of Gomez ,rigoni,enzo ,banega,pizzaro,salvio,parades they can’t pull Argentina too far in bigger matches.Di maria,lanzini lamela ,nacho will be above average midfield.Sampoli uses right tactics but to execute right tactics he doesn’t use right players.

    • With all due respect,I strongly beleive that Lamela doesn’t have the level of Spurs or NT right now. Angel Correa is in my opinion a far far far better option.

16. Pretty lame kit. The contrast between the white and blue is not that big. In the sun, from a distance, the shirt is almost white.

    Oh yeah, something off topic: Some people here claim that the 2014 WC team was better than the WC team in 2006 by pointing out that the first team reached the final and the other did not. That fact is that both teams were beaten by Germany. If the 2014 team would have met the Germans in the quarter finals, we probably never would have made passed that stage. The 2006 team suffered the same fate as the team in 1990 and 2010. We have not beaten Germany in a competitive game since 1986. Therefore I hope that another team will eliminate the Germans in WC 2018, because we have not been able to do so for a long time. Sure, a victory against Germany would be sweet revenge, but given their track record against us I would prefer to avoid them all together. Hopefully Belgium or Spain or maybe even England or France (long rivalries because of many wars) can do the job for us.

    • The 2014 version of Germany was a much stronger team with better players than the one in 2006.

    • I disagree here. 2014 Argentina was way stronger than 2006. I still believe we were even stronger than Germany in Brazil. Had it not been for fatigue and lack of fitness to key players, Argentina would have beaten Germany. Remember Germany played only for 30 mins in semi final vs our 180 mins. IMHO the 2006 team, one played 2 great matches against Serbia (the game that brought Tiki taka to football) and Germany. And I repeat only 2 great matches. The rest were not spectacular at all. We laboured hard against Ivory Coast, Holland and Mexico. I remember these matches very well, we were not as dominant as deemed here on Mundo. Before the Maxi Rodriguez volley vs Mexico, it was anyone’s game to win. The matches are there on YouTube for every one to see.
