Argentine Champions League preview: Sergio Aguero, Manchester City host Monchengladbach

6

Sergio Aguero and Manchester City host Borussia Monchengladbach as they look to make the next round of the Champions League.

Aguero is back starting for Pep Guardiola’s team and even scoring. The league leaders in England take a 2-0 advantage with them back to Manchester as they are in a great position to qualify for the quarter finals.

The other match on Tuesday involves Real Madrid and Atalanta who have Cristian Romero and Jose Palomino on their side. Madrid have a 1-0 advantage with the second match taking place in Madrid.

Joaquin Correa scored in the first match for Lazio as they lost 4-1 to Bayern. Last year’s Champions League winners host Lazio with three Argentine players in their team. While it will be very difficult, Joaquin Correa, Gonzalo Escalante and Mateo Musacchio will try to lead Lazio into the quarter finals.

Diego Simeone’s men are away to Chelsea as Atletico’s form hasn’t been the best lately. A 1-0 loss vs. Chelsea means they must score at Stamford Bridge and Angel Correa will want to help them in qualifying for the next round. Willy Caballero will very much be watching from the bench for Chelsea. Here are the matches for this week:

Manchester City (Sergio Aguero) vs. Borussia Monchengladbach

Real Madrid vs. Atalanta (Jose Palomino, Cristian Romero)

Wednesday:

Bayern Munich vs. Lazio (Joaquin Correa, Gonzalo Escalante, Mateo Musacchio)

Chelsea (Willy Caballero) vs. Atletico Madrid (Angel Correa)

  1. The final in Columbia is a big suck, if we would finish in the first two places of the group our quarter and semi-final will be held in Argentina. Argentina have to beat probably only one of Columbia or Brazil to win the cup. Most likely scenario ARG will win the group then Argentina-Peru or Ecuador in quarter, Argentina-Uruguay or Chile in semi and Argentina-Brazil or Columbia or Chile or Uruguay (if these two finish only in 3rd place of the group) in final. Very weird draw as always from Conmebol.

    • Poor Di Maria, another robbery and again with his wife and kids present at the house while he was playing …..shitty rotten luck. New security measures should be in order.

    • Good thing that the postponed qualifiers didn’t play a role in changing Copa America, I would lose it if we had to wait any longer!
