Lautaro Martínez scores for Argentina vs. Chile, qualify for Quarter Finals of Copa America

Lautaro Martínez scored for Argentina in their 1-0 win vs. Chile and they qualified for the Quarter Finals of the Copa America.

Martínez did not start the match but he scored the only goal, late in the match.

Argentina saw much of the ball in the first half and moved it around well, creating a few chances and half chances. Nicolas Gonzalez had the ball down the wing and passed it in to Julian Alvarez inside the penalty area but his effort from close range was saved.

Lionel Messi had an effort from well outside of the penalty area but his effort hit the post.

The second half saw more of the same with Nicolás González hitting the crossbar. Argentina national team coach made five substitutions in the second half, bringing on Gio Lo Celso, Lautaro Martínez, Ángel Di María, Marcos Acunña and Gonzalo Montiel for Enzo Fernández, Julián Álvarez, Nicolás González, Nicolás Tagliafico and Nahuel Molina.

It was a free kick for Argentina and Messi would take it and after it would fall to Lautaro Martínez who would strike it first time and score to give Argentina the 1-0 lead.

Scaloni’s team would come close to a second goal. A counter attack by Ángel Di María and his pass would fall to Lautaro but his effort was saved.

Argentina qualify for the Quarter Finals of the 2024 and they will play Peru on Saturday.

  1. Agree on the ref’s they were terrible. I was at the game, it was an incredible atmosphere, it was about 95% Argentina fans.

  2. As expected, Chile came to park the Bus.
AS expected, Chile employed their chop and drop techniques.
AS expected, as I stated yesterday, officiating has been suspicious for both COPA and EUROS, it must have been a MEMO to all REFs. don’t call 60% of fouls.
AS expected and it’s been a while, Bravo of course had to turn to Wolverine from X-Men and stop everything.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MARTINEZ to come around and mentioned this many times on here, FINALLY and even NICO was defending his ass off so I cant complain.
DePaul missed a few passes initially but made up for it for the rest of the game.
DEBU, GREAT job staying awake but the team got a little weak at the knees before the goal, they need to knock that shit off.
6 points, Messi is ok and we’ll go from there, BTW that damn stadium was the same from the 2016 COPA Final.

    • Yes the game went exactly as expected so deffenetly agree on everything u posted !
