Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni on the hydration breaks at World Cup

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about the hydration breaks at the World Cup.

Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference about the Argentina national team and Lionel Messi. In the same press conference, Scaloni also commented on the hydration breaks. Here is what he had to say:

“There’s no easy match. In this World Cup, there are more matches but the group stage has always been tough for everyone.

“The heat conditions, constantly stopping the match, ends up giving a hand to the theoretically somewhat weaker team. It ahs time to recover and prepare things that maybe it didn’t have before. It’s been done to have more time and in the end, the match ends up getting a bit choppy. That thing with four times almost feels like it’s real. It’s been done and here we are to make it work.

“Everything I have in my head can change based on what happens in those 22, 23 minutes. We have people up top analyzing the match and us sitting on the bench. We look for solutions and do what’s done in a normal halftime. Sometimes I get confused saying it’s only for the weaker rival, it also gives the team that wants to attack time to adjust.

“It feels weird adapting to that. I imagine that in time, if it keeps being done, it’ll become something normal like all the things that have been made almost normal. This still isn’t normal for us, it makes things pretty choppy.

“There are times when matches shift from one way to another in the same period just because of this because they’re there to make corrections. I understand it’ll get better. There are people who analyze and show computers or tablets. We go more for the one on one and talking. Everyone has their own little playbook.”

  1. This is to answer Sabya as per my understanding…if wrong please rectify me….
As per new FIFA rule in two stages of WC 2026 the single YC per player is reset, first stage is the Group Stage and the second stage is Quarter Finals.
    That means..
    i) any player carrying 1 YC will be converted into 0 YC in KOs.
ii) any player carrying 1 YC from Round of 32 to Quarter Finals will be converted into 0 YC in Semi Finals. But if the player already conceded a YC in KOs and get a second YC again in QF will be suspended in SFs.

  2. Scaloni is always polite and humble, this has made a big impact on team overall. And he rightly said that everything in his head can change on how the match gets played … and I have never seen this coaching staff use tech and tablets. It’s an in-person observation and guide. I just love this group. The attitude too. God willing, this match will give positive result … whatever team the coaching staff decides.
    VAMOS!

  3. we need to let other scoeres Messi can not be the only one scoring that is not a good sign for the moral of the team

  4. There are no easy teams in the World Cup. Every nation is here to prove it belongs, and with players competing in top leagues around the world, the old intimidation factor is gone.

Let’s hope we can build on the victory from the first match and continue our winning run. All the best…

  5. All the players are fit and available for the match. Thats the most important news. Does anyone know about the card rules? Are the cards given in the group stage cancelled before any stage of the knockouts?

  6. Every match we would not be the bigger team. In those matches the hydration break might go in our favour.

    • We are the number one team in the world wash your mouth out

Here we go again with the tom foolery

  7. Today’s match is important. If we win, we top the group. Also, it seems that if Brazil and Portugal come 2nd in their respective groups, and either Cabo Verde or Saudia Arabia qualify from their own group as 2nd, and hopefully, if England also get eliminated before semis, then Argentina will largely avoid big names till finals.

  8. Today’s game will be a good test for the team. I hope Thiago Almada and Lisandro Martinez silence their critiques; both players are great and need time to adjust. Vamos Argentina!!!
