Lionel Messi scored a free kick for Inter Miami in their 2-1 win against FC Porto.

Messi got his first goal at this Club World Cup, scoring a free kick for Inter Miami. It was FC Porto who took a 1-0 lead but Marcelo Weigandt had an assist for Telasco Segovia who scored to draw Inter Miami level.

With the score at 1-1, Inter Miami were awarded a free kick and it was Messi who took it. The Argentine scored the free kick to give Inter Miami the 2-1 lead.

Inter Miami are now on four points, tied with Palmeiras but behind on goal difference.

Óscar Ustari, Nicolás Otamendi and Marcos Acuña are in the Club World Cup Team of the Week.

The three Argentine players have made the best eleven of the first week at the Club World Cup. Ustari made eight saves for Inter Miami, including a penalty saved and was named Man of the Match in Inter Miami’s 0-0 draw against Al Ahly.

Nicolás Otamendi had a goal for Benfica in their 2-2 draw against Boca Juniors while Marcos Acuña had two assists for River Plate in their 3-1 win against Urawa Reds. Below is the team of the week:

Argentina in Club World Cup preview, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, 24 players

The second round of the Club World Cup begins on Thursday and we have 24 Argentina players that are eligible to play.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami drew 0-0 against Al Ahly on Saturday with Óscar Ustari being named the Man of the Match. On Thursday, Inter Miami, who have nine Argentina players on the team, play FC Porto who have three Argentina players.

In the same group, Palmeiras with Agustín Giay, Aníbal Moreno and José Manuel López play Al Ahly. All four teams are on one point each.

Atletico Madrid and their six Argentine players will look to bounce back from their 4-0 loss against Paris Saint-Germain. Diego Simeone’s team play against Pedro de la Vega and Seattle Sounders.

Álvaro Montoro, Alexander Barboza and Botafogo play Paris Saint-Germain. The winner would top the group.

Argentina goal scorers at Club World Cup after first round

Eight Argentine players have scored at the Club World Cup this year after the opening round of matches.

Enzo Fernández was the first Argentine player to score at the Club World Cup, finding the back of the net in Chelsea’s 2-0 win against LAFC.

Rodrigo Battaglia was the next Argentine player to score, getting a goal for Boca Juniors in their 2-2 draw against Benfica. In the same match, Ángel Di María and Nicolás Otamedi scored both goals for Benfica in the draw.

For River Plate, Facundo Colidio, Sebastián Driussi and Maxi Meza had all three goals for them in their 3-1 win vs. Urawa Reds.

Lautaro Martínez is the latest Argentine to score, getting the only goal for Inter in their 1-1 draw against Monterrey.

Argentina Club World Cup preview, Nicolás González, Claudio Echeverri

The Club World Cup continues on Wednesday and there are seven Argentine players that can take part in the match.

Claudio Echeverri and Manchester City take part in the first match of the day against Wydad AC. The second match of the day is Real Madrid against Al-Hilal.

Pachuca have three Argentine players in the team. Sergio Barreto, Gustavo Cabral and Agustín Palavecino will play RB Salzburg. Nicolás Capaldo of Red Bull Salzburg is not with them at the Club World Cup due to an injury to his hand.

In the last match of the day, it’s Nicolás González and Juventus against Al Ain who have Mateo Sanabria and Matías Palacios.
