Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI gave an interview with Direc TV Sports where he discussed the team.

The manager stated that he would like to play a 4-4-2 formation but did not mention names. In regards to the team, here’s what he had to say:

“Today, Argentina are in no condition to fight against the best teams in the world. I try to go with the truth, always, even if it hurts. When I played, it was important for me that the coach tells me the truth.”

SCALONI talking about the style of play:

“The style of play worries me, it’s important in football but at times, not the most important. At Barcelona, at times, you don’t know what system they use but they always win and they don’t win because they play with two lines of four but because they play well.

“Playing styles are important but not the only thing. We try to play different ways but the way we feel football is the same.”

Argentina legend Claudio CANIGGIA spoke about the current state of the team as well as Paulo DYBALA.

Speaking in an interview with Fox Sports, the former Argentina man gave his thoughts on the team and more specifically DYBALA. Here’s what he had to say:

“When are you going to appear? You are 25 years old. You’re a great player. You play with Juventus with the number 10 on the back but I want you with the Argentina national team.

“I want you to appear and to play with Argentina. He’s a great player. Surely a nice guy too but he’s already 25 years old. He has to appear and he has to carry the weight. I say that with good vibes to DYBALA and to LO CELSO.”

CANIGGIA also spoke about sharing the responsibilities on the team:

“Have three or four take charge and drag the rest. The rest will follow you as they followed BURRUCHAGA, MARADONA, VALDANO.

“The responsibility is for each of them to take chard. If MESSI is 30 meters away and the play has to go left, you can’t look for MESSI to solve everything. I want players to hold the ball and not to be thinking where MESSI is.”

Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI on Sergio AGUERO: “He’s in the race for Copa America”

Argentina national team coach Lionel SCALONI recently gave an interview where he discussed Sergio AGUERO.

The all time leading goal scorer for Manchester City has not been called-up by SCALONI since he took over as coach. However, speaking with Direc TV, the Argentina manager had this to say:

“There’s no problem with Sergio AGUERO and he’s in the race for the Copa America. I can guarantee that I have the best relationship with him and I’ve never had a problem. He’s playing at a very good level and he’s not to be discarded from being in the final list of the Copa America.”

In regards to AGUERO not being called-up:

“It’s not a problem of performance and at one point I thought it would be good to continue with Lautaro MARTINEZ. I value and I know what Sergio can bring to the Argentina national team but I thought it was more important to give Lautaro confidence.”

Gonzalo HIGUAIN: “I was afraid to go outside”

Gonzalo HIGUAIN spoke about being afraid to go outside, the criticism he endured and the life of a football player.
The former Argentina man and current Chelsea striker gave an interview with ESPN where discussed all of those things. Here’s what he had to say:

“I have always regretted staying in and not going out in the street for fear of what they might say to me. That was a regret in my life. There are people who do a lot of damage and do bad things without shame that can go outside. And us, we killed no one, who did good things, we only play a sport, we can’t go out?”

In regards to the money earned by football players:

“They always say “With the money that they earn…” but you can’t buy friends. It’s been 14 years that I have been celebrating birthdays and Christmases with distant people. If I want to see my mom, it will take me a 15 hour flight. Obviously I can pay for the flight but I don’t have her 10 minutes away. People don’t see that. What do they see? They see that I score a goal because they pay us for that. They judge us only if we score, I think it’s a little exaggerated but I’m healed from all of that.”

HIGUAIN also mentioned about where he is right now in his life:

“I’m at a stage in my life where nothing can hurt me. I’ve suffered. If I don’t go on to social media, it still gets to you. I’ve played in the best leagues, the best teams, in three World Cup’s and Copa America. At the age of 5, I never would have imagined even 10% of what I accomplished. Why should I be pre-occupied with what people say?”
