Paulo Gazzaniga joins Elche from Tottenham

Paulo Gazzaniga has joined Elche on loan from Tottenham.

Gazzaniga has joined the Spanish club on loan until the end of the season as Tottenham announced the transfer Monday. Already 29 years old, the Argentine played 25 matches for the club last season but returned to being the back-up goalkeeper. His contract with Tottenham expires in June of next year.

Elche has let in 26 goals in 19 matches this season and are in 19th place in the standings, two points off 17th, which would keep them in La Liga. Gazzaniga has not played for Tottenham since their 3-2 loss vs. Wolves in March of last year.

Lucas Ocampos scored a penalty for Sevilla in their 2-0 win vs. Eibar.

Ocampos scored his first goal in a month, his sixth this season, fourth in the league to give Sevilla the 1-0 lead. Sevilla were awarded a penalty and the Argentine stepped up and scored what would prove to be the winner.

Entering his prime at 26 years of age, Ocampos has become an integral part of the Argentina national team as coach Lionel Scaloni will look to count on him at this year’s Copa America.

Joaquin Correa scored for Lazio in their 3-1 win vs. Atalanta.

Correa scored his fourth goal of the season, his second in the league as he gave Lazio the 2-0 lead. It was a goal off a resulting goal kick as the ball was flicked to Correa and the Argentine was one on one with the goalkeeper. He would go around the goalkeeper and score what would be the match winner.

De Paul had a rollercoaster of a match. Udinese were awarded a penalty kick and it was the Argentine who stepped up as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give his team the 1-0 lead. He is the club’s top scorer this season with five goals.

The Udinese captain would get red carded following a second yellow card which saw him get sent off.

Messi was back against Bilbao, the team he got red carded against just a few weeks ago. With his contract being leaked in the media, his response was a goal and a free kick one at that. Messi was fouled as the referee called for the free kick.

The Argentine stepped up and his effort gave Barcelona the 1-0 lead, despite Bilbao having a player on the line trying to clear it. He has now scored 650 goals for Barcelona, 55 of them free kicks.

Barcelona are now second in the standings behind only Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid team.
