Reports are coming out that MLS club Atlanta United would like to hire former FC Barcelona man Gabriel MILITO as their new head coach.

Atlanta United president Darren Eales and sporting director Carlos BOCANEGRA are currently in Argentina and are looking to get Boca Juniors manager Guillermo BARROS SCHELOTTO as their new coach. With Gerardo “Tata” MARTINO leaving at the end of the year, the club are trying to find a replacement.

However, it seems very unlikely that SCHELOTTO would take over as coach and the club are also looking at Gabriel MILITO.

Argentina 2018 Goal of the Year: All goals scored before the 2018 FIFA World Cup

12

With us now being in December, it’s been a tumultuous year for the Argentina team. We’ve had two different coaches, what feels like a million different goalkeepers, a World Cup, players retiring and much more.

However, 24 goals have been scored this year by the Argentina squad and seven of them came before the 2018 FIFA World Cup. A 2-0 win against Italy, a disastrous 6-1 loss against Spain and a 4-0 victory against Haiti in Buenos Aires.

We will break down these goals into three different categories before finally voting on the Argentina 2018 goal of the year. The first will include the best goal before the 2018 FIFA World Cup, after that a second vote will be done where we select the best Argentina goal at the World Cup and after that a vote on the best goal scored after the World Cup. Once we have the top 3 goals, we will put them to a vote to select the 2018 Argentina Goal of the Year.

Here are the highlights and the goals scored before the 2018 FIFA World Cup with the poll below:

Argentina vs. Italy: Ever BANEGA, Manuel LANZINI

Argentina vs. Spain: Nicolas OTAMENDI

Argentina vs. Haiti: Lionel MESSI 3 goals, Sergio AGUERO

Vote below for the goal you think is the best goal.

Wth Lionel MESSI not being nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or, the World Cup winning coach put down the award.

Former Spain coach Vicente DEL BOSQUE knows a thing or two about managing top players. From Andres INIESTA to Xavi HERNANDEZ to Iker CASILLAS, he’s seen them all come and go. But with the Ballon d’Or being awarded on Monday, DEL BOSQUE gave his thoughts on MESSI no being nominated. Speaking to Marca, here’s what he had to say:

“I am very surprised that MESSI isn’t there. I think it [the award] loses all value if he is not leading the best players in the world. It is, at the very least, a little strange.”

Hernan CRESPO is expected to be named as the new coach of Banfield in Argentina.

The former Argentina, AC Milan and Chelsea man would be replacing Julio FALCIONI after the club decided against renewing FALCIONI’s contract.

This would be CRESPO’s first coaching job in Argentina. He joins former Argentine team mates such as Mauricio POCHETTINO, Diego SIMEONE and Pablo AIMAR just to name a few as former players who have become managers.
