Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI gave a press conference ahead of his team’s match against Iraq in Saudi Arabia.
Lionel SCALONI will be looking for his second victory in charge of the Argentina national team and will hope for a third a few days later against Brazil. However, the Argentina coach is cautious about the two matches. Speaking a press conference, here’s what he had to say:
“Today, in football, there’s nothing simple. Surely Iraq will be a complicated opponent but we will try to do things well. I thanked the players for being in the national team. I am very comfortable and thankful.
“We have to play and win tomorrow. It’s the best way to enjoy the next match. I don’t know if we will play the same 11 in the next match but tomorrow, it’ll be the one’s who I think are the best.”
As we reported on Wednesday, SCALONI confirmed the eleven which will start on Thursday:
“The team for tomorrow is confirmed: ROMERO, BUSTOS, PEZZELLA, FUNES MORI, ACUNA, PAREDES, MEZA, VAZQUEZ, DYBALA, MARTINEZ and DE PAUL.”
SCALONI was also asked about the match against Brazil:
“First, we have to play this match. It’s special. It’s the eternal rival but there is still time. I don’t want to get to that match with a bad taste in my mouth.”
In regards to the condition of some of the players:
“We don’t want players in bad conditions to come. We don’t want players that aren’t one hundred percent.”
