Lucas ALARIO scores on Bayer Leverkusen debut

5

Lucas ALARIO got off to a dream start for Bayer Leverkusen.

A goal and an assist is what the former River Plate man can now add to his resumé in Germany. After some initial trouble with his transfer (undergoing a medical withour River Plate’s consent), ALARIO finally made his debut in the Bundesliga. The €24 million man scored in Bayer Leverkusen’s second of the match and set up the third in their 3-0 win against Hamburg. Leverkusen coach Heiko HERRLICH had this to say:

The goal was the cream on top of it all. He (ALARIO) played very well, scored the goal and combined with the other players. He worked well coming back and his first goal wasn’t so easy to score.

ALARIO became the first Argentinian to score on his Bundesliga debut since Sergio ZARATE did it back in 1991.

Ricardo ALVAREZ, Franco CERVI and Facundo FERREYRA all found the back of the net on the weekend.

We have goals from Italy, Portugal and Ukraine in this one. A finalist at the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Argentina, Ricardo “Ricky” ALVAREZ scored earlier today for Sampdoria in their 2-0 win against AC Milan. About 20 seconds after coming on as a substitute, ALVAREZ scored to seal the victory for Sampdoria.

Jumping to Portugal, Franco CERVI for Benfica in their 2-0 win against FErreira. That goal was CERVI’s first of the season for his club.

Paulo DYBALA wasn’t the only man from Argentina to score twice for his club over the weekend as Facundo FERREYRA scored two times in Shakhtar’s 4-2 win against Zirka.

Sergio Kun AGUERO and Paulo DYBALA on target for clubs

Sergio Kun AGUERO and Paulo DYBALA were both on target for their clubs on Saturday.

Joint top scorer in the English Premier League this season, Manchester City’s Sergio AGUERO was on target once more in his club’s 5-0 victory against Crystal Palace. Kun’s strike was his sixth of the season, taking him joint top alongside Manchester United’s Romelu LUKAKU and Chelsea’s Alvaro MORATA.

AGUERO’s goal edges him closer to Eric BROOK’s tally of 177 goals for the club with Sergio currently on 176 goals. Already a Manchester City legend, becoming the club’s all-time top goalscorer will simply add to his legendary status.

In Italy, it was the Paulo DYBALA show once more for Juventus with DYBALA scoring twice in his team’s 4-0 win against Torino. Paulo has now scored 10 goals in 6 matches for Juventus.

Poll: Who should start up front for Argentina?

70

It’s time for a poll as we ask who should start up front in attack for Argentina against Peru?

With the remaining World Cup Qualifiers soon approaching, all of Argentina’s forwards are in fantastic form. Mauro ICARDI can’t stop scoring for Inter, Sergio AGUERO is on fire and Paulo DYBALA is scoring hat tricks for fun. And Lionel MESSI, well, he’s Lionel MESSI.

Against Uruguay and Venezuela, Jorge SAMPAOLI went with the trio of Lionel MESSI, Mauro ICARDI and Paulo DYBALA in attack and while the team didn’t lose, the trio didn’t score a single goal (Mauro ICARDI’s apparent goal was awarded as an own goal against Venezuela). With that said, who should Jorge SAMPAOLI go with in attack? Do you start a more experience Sergio AGUERO with Lionel and ICARDI? Do you stick with the same front three as the previous two matches? With the match against Peru being played at La Bombonbera, would you call-up Boca man Dario BENEDETTO and start him?

Mauro ICARDI grabs draw for Inter against Bologna

2

Mauro ICARDI continues his excellent form with yet another goal for Inter.

The Inter captain scored for his club in their 1-1 draw against Bologna. With Inter trailing 1-0 away to Bologna, the Nerazzurri were awarded a penalty kick. The responsibly was given to the newly shaven captain, ICARDI who made no mistaken at all (just like his Argentina team mate Lionel MESSI). A powerfully struck shot beat the goalkeeper to draw his team level.

The Argentina number 9 has now scored 6 goals in the opening 5 Match Day’s of the Serie A in each of the last two seasons. Incredible numbers.
