Sergio AGUERO and Robero PEREYRA sent off in England on Saturday

It was an uneventful day for Sergio AGUERO and Roberto PEREYRA and for all the wrong reasons.

During Manchester City’s English Premier League match against Chelsea, Sergio AGUERO got a straight red card (his second of the season) for a horrific kick out on David LUIZ. With the score at 3-1 for the visitors, AGUERO and David LUIZ went in for the same ball with AGUERO instead lashing out and tackling him resulting in a straight red card.

AGUERO could face disciplinary action with a 4 game ban (as opposed to a 3 game ban) as it is his second red card of the season.

Sergio AGUERO wasn’t the only Argentine getting red carded in England on Saturday as Roberto PEREYRA saw red for Watford in their 3-1 loss to West Brom. Claudio YACOB played the full 90 minutes for the winners.

Three Argentine’s found their names on the scoresheet on Wednesday, including a hattrick by Joaquin CORREA.

Two CORREA’s (Joaquin and Angel) found the back of the net for their clubs while Ignacio PIATTI scored for the Montreal Impact. Joaquin CORREA scored a hattrick for Sevilla in their 5-1 win in the Copa del Rey against Formentera.

Angel CORREA scored Atletico’s 5th goal of the match in their 6-0 win against Guijuelo.

In what was an absolutely crazy match, Ignacio PIATTI scored for the Montreal Impact in their 5-2 loss (7-5 on aggregate) against Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The football world mourns on this tragic day

I don’t even know where to begin.

For those unaware, the Copa Sudamericana final first leg was supposed to take place between Colombia’s Atletico Nacional and Brazil’s Chapecoense. However, the plane carrying the Brazilian team crashed and it’s being reported that there are no survivors.

It’s an absolute tragedy and sadly a wake-up call for many of us. These players travel distances (be it long or short) to play for their teams, are away from ther families, all for their fans and for the sport they love. Athletes are human beings and if this isn’t the biggest reminder for us fans, I don’t what is.

These players, the staff and the club travelled to Colombia with an idea in mind. A dream in mind. That is to play and ultimately celebrate with their fans. They ended up paying the ultimate price. Their lives.

It’s being reported that the plane used was the same one used by the Argentina National Team earlier this month during the World Cup Qualifiers. Argentine players, Brazilian, Colombian, it doesn’t matter. But just think of that for a second. Many have probably never watched a single match involving Chapecoense. But it doesn’t make it any less tragic. Imagine had the players on that flight been players from the Argentina National Team or players from a club you support. Actually, don’t even think that. Think if it was someone you knew.

At the end of the day, lives have been tragically lost and taken away way too early. In a show of sportsmanship, Atlético Nacional have asked CONMEBOL to award the Copa Sudamericana title to Chapecoense. A very noble gesture by the club.

I know this isn’t related to the Argentina National Team in any way but I felt compelled to have to write something about this horrorific incident. Today, the football/soccer world mourns. Today, the fans of this beautiful sport we love come together to show our support for a fellow team.

Lionel MESSI double, Nicolas PAREJA goal in the Champions League

Lionel MESSI and Nicolas PAREJA were the two Argentine goalscorers this week in the Champions League.

Lionel MESSI scored twice for Barcelona in their 2-0 win against Celtic. The first was a great touch from close range and the second from the penalty spot.

Nicolas PAREJA scored for Sevilla in their 2-1 loss to Juventus. PAREJA’s goal was a voley from the edge of the area.
