River Plate lifted the Copa Argentina after a thrilling 4-3 win against Rosario Central.

The final in Cordoba saw a total of 7 goals being scored, three of which by Lucas ALARIO for the winning team. ALARIO scored in the 10th, 39th and 71st minute while Uruguayan Ivan ALONSO scored the match winner in the 74th minute. The win qualifies River Plate to the 2017 Copa Libertadores.

Meanwhile for Rosario, Marco RUBEN went from hero to villain as he scored twice before being sent off in the 83rd minute. The other goal came from Damian MUSTO.

Silvio ROMERO scores twice for Club America in Club World Cup

There are a total of five Argentine representatives in this year’s Club World Cup tournament and one of them has already scored twice.

Silvio ROMERO of Club America (managed by 1978 World Cup winner Ricardo LAVOLPE) scored twice for his club in their come from behind 2-1 win against South Korea’s Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. Club America will play Real Madrid on the 15th of December in the semi-finals while Atletico Nacional play Kashima Antlers on the 14th of December.

Paulo DYBALA had a fantastic assist for Juventus while Gonzalo HIGUAIN scored twice.

Paulo DYBALA came on against Torino and made his first Serie A appearance since getting injured back in October. And he didn’t disappoint as he put in a great assist for the third goal. HIGUAIN scored twice for the reigning Serie A champions as they came back from being 1-0 down to win 3-1 against Torino. Here were the goals and DYBALA’s assist:

2017 South American Youth Football Championship DRAW

Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well.

The 2017 Under-20 South American Youth Championship (Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20) held the groups draw today in Paraguay.  This championship tournament will be held in Ecuador from January 13 to February 5th.  The top four teams will qualify directly to the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in South Korea.

Take a look to see how Argentina fared in the group draw below.  The top three teams in each group qualified for the Final Stage.

The sub-20 team actually played a friendly today in Argentina vs. Japan.  They won 2-1.  Goals from Lautaro Martínez and Joaquín Pereyra (ROSARIO CENTRAL).  The 11 that started the match were: Franco Petroli (RIVER PLATE); Nahuel Molina (BOCA JUNIORS) , Cristian Gabriel Romero (BELGRANO), Marcos Senesi (SAN LORENZO), Milton Valenzuela (NEWELL’S); Santiago Ascacíbar (ESTUDIANTES), Pedro Ojeda (ROSARIO CENTRAL); Lucas Rodríguez (ESTUDIANTES), Matias Zaracho (RACING CLUB), Brian Mansilla (RACING CLUB); Lautaro Martínez (RACING CLUB). Coach: Claudio Úbeda.

Unfortunately, Ascacíbar had to get get subbed out due to a knock on his left ankle.

Lionel MESSI, Angel DI MARIA score on Tuesday

Tuesday night’s Champions League matches produced two goals by two two Argentine players.

Veterans of the Argentina National Team Lionel MESSI and Angel DI MARIA both scored on Tuesday for their respective clubs. Lionel MESSI scored the first of Barcelona’s four goals in their 4-0 win against Borussia Monchengladbach. MESSI’s goal brings his tally up to 10 goals in the Champions League this season.

Angel DI MARIA scored in the 92nd minute for PSG in their 2-2 draw against Ludogorets in Paris. DI MARIA’s goal was his second in five matches in the tournament this season.
