More coming to Mundo Albiceleste

Just because the Copa America is over with doesn’t mean the changes here on Mundo will stop coming.

I’m currently working on an Olympics section which will hopefully be up in the coming days. It will include player profiles, group stage and tournament brackets, statistics, and information on the 2004 and 2008 Gold medal winning teams.

We launched the new design while the Copa America was underway, thus missing some key things we wanted to do with that section. However, that will not be the case with the Olympics.

Furthermore, there would also be a section for the Champions League and possibly the Europa League. Those sections would focus on the Argentinian players (how many goals they scored during this season, the team’s they are involved in and more). But that would be launched once the Champions League gets under way.

We’re also working on making some further changes to the look of the website. Most notably the background picture, a logo and possibly some more colors to brighten things up a little bit.

As mentioned in the past, this is not a finished product and is something we are continually working on. We hope you enjoy these improvements and new sections.

A new feature which has been implemented on the site (has been for a few weeks now) is in the comments section. When clicking on a news post, all comments in blue mean that those are “new” comments which have since been submitted since you last visited that article.

If there is anything in particular you would like to see brought in on Mundo, do let us know.

Thank you,

Roy

Gonzalo HIGUAIN set to leave Napoli

22

While not exactly an Argentina fan favorite here at the moment, Gonzalo HIGUAIN is set to leave Napoli, according to his brother.

Nicolas HIGUAIN (Gonzalo’s brother) mentioned to reporter Mariano CLOSS that his brother will not renew with Napoli. There have been strong rumors that HIGUAIN will be joining French club PSG.

Pablo ZABALETA to join Roma

Some breaking news coming out of Italy regarding Pablo ZABALETA.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Pablo ZABALETA has agreed to join Italian club AS Roma. Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that both clubs have agreed to a fee of £2.5m with just the small details left.

He would join on a multi year deal.

Diego MARADONA: “They’ve left MESSI alone”

69

Diego MARADONA came out defending Lionel MESSI following his retirement from the Argentina National Team.

MARADONA has defended MESSI, saying that they’ve left him alone and that he would like to talk to him. Here’s what he had to say:

“MESSI has to continue with the National Team, he has to continue! They’ve left MESSI alone and I don’t want him to be alone.”

“I want to talk to him: To fight for those who were left alone, from first to last, from SEGURA until VERON.”

“We have to support more those who can help push the team forward and less those which they say have to go. Those who say they (players) have to go, they don’t see the mess that is Argentinian football.”

“The only thing Leo’s comments do are cover up all the disasters in Argentinian football. They put the kid’s face (Messi’s face) to cover up what the AFA has done and today we’re talking about him and not them. And to cover it all, we lost two consecutive finals to Chile. And with all the respect in the world, they aren’t the Netherlands of 1974. And we lost both. The truth is right now, I don’t believe anyone.”

“I have a feeling they just told him: “Go and for the love of God do something to save us.” We were a mess and they left him alone.”

Tata MARTINO to step down as coach

41

While not confirmed, Verónica BRUNATI (who is very close to the National Team) has reported that Tata MARTINO will step down as coach.

While not official, MARTINO has taken the decision to no longer continue on as Argentina coach. Should this be the case, the Olympic team could be without a coach for the tournament in August.

It is worth mentioning that MARTINO has not been paid his salary in about 7 months.
