Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni on playing with 3 defenders, Lautaro Martínez

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has spoken about the possibility of playing with three center backs and Lautaro Martínez being available against Colombia.

Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference on Monday where he confirmed that Lionel Messi will start against Colombia in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier. He also commented on possibly playing with three center backs. Here is what he had to say:

“Playing with three center backs could be an option. It’s not my preferred system but we have the players to do it if we need to.”

Scaloni also commented on Lautaro Martínez:

“Lautaro (Martínez) is doing very well, we gave him a few days off because he deserved it after so much competition. He is available for tomorrow.”

He did not play for Argentina in their 1-0 win against Chile. It could be one of Thiago Almada, Nicolás González and Lautaro Martínez who starts Tuesday’s match.

Lionel Messi will start for Argentina against Colombia on Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has confirmed that Messi will start the match on Tuesday. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Scaloni said the following:

“Messi will start, we have no doubt. Hopefully the people can enjoy him and the team.”

He started Argentina’s 1-0 win against Chile on Thursday on the bench but was substituted into the match.

Thiago Almada, Nicolás González and Lautaro Martínez are all competing for one spot in the Argentina starting eleven.

One of Almada, Nicolás González and Lautaro are set to start for Argentina against Colombia on Tuesday. According to Gastón Edul, one of them will start alongside Lionel Messi and Julián Álvarez in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.

Almada started in Argentina’s 1-0 win against Chile while Nicolás González was suspended due to his red card against Uruguay and Lautaro was rested.

On this day in 2012, Lionel Messi scored a hat trick for Argentina in a 4-3 win against Brazil.

On June 9, 2012, Lionel Messi had his second hat trick with the Argentina national team. It was Brazil who scored the first goal to take the 1-0 lead in New Jersey.

With Brazil leading 1-0, Gonzalo Higuaín would play a pass in to Messi and he would score to draw Argentina level. Three minutes later, Ángel Di María would play a pass to Messi and he would dribble around the goalkeeper, similarly to Claudio Caniggia in 1990 against Brazil, to score and give Argentina the 2-1 lead.

Brazil would score two more goals to make 3-2 going late in the match. Alejandro Sabella’s team were awarded a corner kick and this was their chance.

Sergio Agüero would take the corner kick and it would find Federico Fernández who scored to draw Argentina level. Minutes later, there was one more goal in the match.

Lionel Messi would receive the ball down the wing and dribble towards the Brazilian team and his effort from distance would beat the goalkeeper and he would score his third goal of the match.

Messi would run towards the Argentina national team bench to celebrate with the team. There would be fireworks after the goal.

Before the end of the match, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marcelo would get into an argument, with both men getting red carded.

This was the Argentina line-up:

Romero; Clemente Rodríguez, Fernández, Garay, Zabaleta; Sosa, Mascherano, Gago, Di María; Higuaín and Messi

Agüero, Lavezzi, Hugo Campagnaro and Pablo Guiñazú were substituted into the match with Agustín Orión, Mariano Andújar, Leandro Desábato, Marcos Rojo, Matías Rodríguez, Rodrigo Braña, Augusto Fernández and Eduardo Salvio on the bench.

Franco Mastantuono will join Real Madrid in August for $45 million.

Mastantuono is going to be playing with Real Madrid. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 17 year old is going to join Real Madrid on a six year deal.

It will be for $45 million which will be paid in installments. River Plate are asking for him to play the Club World Cup with them and to join Real Madrid in August.

The Argentine is presently with the Argentina national team and played his first match with Argentina in their 1-0 win against Chile.
