Lucas “Pocho” Román has been called up to the Italy U20 national team.

The Argentine born forward is called up for their two friendly matches vs. Germany and Czech Republic. The Barcelona B forward won L’Alcudia in 2022 with the Argentina U20 national team.

Italy has recently started calling up Argentine born players that are eligible to play for their country.

Argentina vs. Paraguay, Peru, World Cup qualifying dates confirmed

Argentina’s World Cup qualifying dates for the matches against Paraguay and Peru have been confirmed.

The World Cup champions will play their first two World Cup qualifying matches in September against Ecuador and Bolivia but will play two more matches in October. Lionel Scaloni’s team will play Paraguay and Peru in October and according to Gastón Edul, they will be on the 12 and 17 respectively.

Scaloni’s team will host Paraguay on October 12 at the Monumental and away to Lima on October 17 against Peru.

Esequiel Barco, Franco Armani included in Argentina national team

Esequiel Barco and Franco Armnai will both reportedly be included in the Argentina national team for September.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni is expected by the end of this week to announce his list of players for the September World Cup qualifying matches and according to Fernando Czyz, both of those players will be included.

The World Cup winners play Ecuador at home on September 7 and will play on September 12 against Bolivia.

Thiago Almada reportedly linked with Ajax

Thiago Almada is reportedly being linked with Ajax.

The Dutch club is reportedly interested in the Argentine World Cup winner. According to Tom Bogert, Ajax have emerged as suitors for Almada. Per the report, Atlanta United will likely require a fee near $29 million for the 22 year old. A fee of $29 million would be an MLS record.

Almada joined Atlanta United from Velez in 2022 and has won the 2022 MLS Newcomer of the Year as well as being included in the 2023 MLS All-Star team. He was also part of the Argentina national team that won the World Cup.
