Argentina U20 national team shirt numbers for U20 World Cup

The Argentina U20 national team will play their first match of the U20 World Cup on Sunday against Cuba and the shirt numbers have been announced.

Diego Placente’s team trained in Chile as Placente had his entire team. Álvaro Montoro of Botafogo will wear the number 10 shirt with Alejo Sarco of Bayer Leverkusen wearing the number 9 shirt. Here are the shirt numbers:

José Manuel López on Argentina national team: “I hope I continue to get more call-ups”

José Manuel López of Palmeiras has commented on wanting to being called up to the Argentina national team.

The 24 year old was part of the Argentina national team for the two World Cup qualifying matches earlier this month against Venezuela and Ecuador. He scored two goals for Palmeiras in their 3-1 win against River in the Copa Libertadores and spoke to GeGlobo after the match. Here is what he had to say:

“Nowadays, coaches watch everything, although perhaps not so much the Argentine press.

“I’m very happy here and I think they watched a lot of Palmeiras games before calling me up. I’m doing my job to the best of my ability.

“I hope I continue to get more call-ups, it’s a dream for me. The first one was spectacular and I enjoyed every moment, just as I always dreamed I would. I’m proud to represent my country.”

River Plate’s run in the 2025 Copa Libertadores ended in São Paulo after a 3-1 defeat against Palmeiras in the second leg of the quarterfinals at Allianz Parque.

Having lost 2-1 at home in the first leg, River needed a comeback to reach the semifinals. The Argentine side struck first when Maxi Salas scored early, reviving hopes of a comeback.

Palmeiras equalized through Vitor Roque in the second half before José Manuel López, known as “El Flaco,” decided the tie with two goals. López converted a penalty following Marcos Acuña’s red card and added another in stoppage time to seal the 3-1 result.

Palmeiras now advances to face the winner between Liga de Quito and São Paulo in the semifinals.

Lionel Messi made MLS history after scoring two goals and assisting once for Inter Miami in their 4-0 win against New York City.

Messi had two goals and one assist for Inter Miami, making it 24 goals and 11 assists in 23 league matches. With the two goals and assist, the 38 year old becomes the first player in MLS history to record at least 35 goal contributions in consecutive seasons.

The Argentine had 23 goals and 13 assists in 25 matches last season with the club.

Lionel Messi scored twice and assisted for Inter Miami in their 4-0 win against New York City.

Messi had two goals and an assist for Inter Miami, making it 24 goals and 11 assists in 23 matches with Inter Miami. With the score at 0-0, Messi played a through ball in to Baltasar Rodríguez and he would score to give Inter Miami the 1-0 lead.

The 38 year old would score a goal made in Barcelona. A through ball from Sergio Busquets found Messi and the Argentine chipped the goalkeeper to give Inter Miami the 2-0 lead and his first goal of the match.

Rodrigo De Paul was tackled down inside the penalty area and Inter Miami were awarded a penalty kick. It was Luis Suárez who would take it and score Inter Miami’s third goal.

At 3-0 for Inter Miami, Messi would receive the ball out wide, dribble inside the penalty area and score his second goal of the match. Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, Óscar Ustari, Mateo Silvetti and Baltasar Rodríguez started the match for Inter Miami.
