Lionel Scaloni announced his list of players for the World Cup and 27 players did not make the team. Scaloni cut three goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and eight forwards.

Marcos Senesi of Bournemouth and Emiliano Buendía of Aston Villa both did not make the Argentina national team for the World Cup. Marcos Acuña, who won the World Cup in 2022 does not make it because of fitness issues.

Franco Mastantuono of Real Madrid, Gianluca Prestianni of Benfica, Matías Soulé of AS Roma, Agustín Giay of Palmeiras, Máximo Perrone of Como and Nicolás Capaldo of Hamburger SV also did not make the World Cup.
