Julián Álvarez scored twice for Atletico Madrid in their 5-2 win against Real Madrid.

Álvarez made it five goals in his last two matches for Atletico Madrid and six goals in seven matches. With the score at 2-2, Atletico were awarded a penalty kick and it was Julián Álvarez who took it.

The 25 year old went to the left of Thibaut Courtois, scoring to give Atletico Madrid the 3-2 lead. Atletico were awarded a free kick and one more, it was Julián Álvarez who would take the set piece.

He would take it and the Argentine would score his second goal of the match to give Atletico the 4-2 lead. Giuliano Simeone and Nicolás González would also start for Atletico Madrid with Nahuel Molina coming on as a substitute and Juan Musso an unused substitute.

Enzo Fernández scores for Chelsea in 3-1 loss vs. Brighton

Enzo Fernández scored for Chelsea in their 3-1 loss against Brighton.

José Manuel López renews contract with Palmeiras

José Manuel López has renewed his contract with Palmeiras.

The Argentine will remain with the Brazilian club until December 2029. The club announced the renewal for the forward.

López joined Palmeiras in 2022 from Lanús and has scored 51 goals, assisting 13 times in 163 matches. He has seven goals this year in the Copa Libertadores and is joint top scorer.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni called-up the 24 year old to the Argentina national team for the September World Cup qualifying matches.

The Argentina U20 national team will play their first match of the U20 World Cup on Sunday against Cuba and the shirt numbers have been announced.

Diego Placente’s team trained in Chile as Placente had his entire team. Álvaro Montoro of Botafogo will wear the number 10 shirt with Alejo Sarco of Bayer Leverkusen wearing the number 9 shirt. Here are the shirt numbers:

José Manuel López on Argentina national team: “I hope I continue to get more call-ups”

José Manuel López of Palmeiras has commented on wanting to being called up to the Argentina national team.

The 24 year old was part of the Argentina national team for the two World Cup qualifying matches earlier this month against Venezuela and Ecuador. He scored two goals for Palmeiras in their 3-1 win against River in the Copa Libertadores and spoke to GeGlobo after the match. Here is what he had to say:

“Nowadays, coaches watch everything, although perhaps not so much the Argentine press.

“I’m very happy here and I think they watched a lot of Palmeiras games before calling me up. I’m doing my job to the best of my ability.

“I hope I continue to get more call-ups, it’s a dream for me. The first one was spectacular and I enjoyed every moment, just as I always dreamed I would. I’m proud to represent my country.”
