Ángel Di María will be continuing with the Argentina national team and not retiring.

Di María had stated earlier this year that the World Cup would be hist last matches with the Argentina national team but that may not be the case. According to Gastón Edul, Di María has decided to continue playing with the Argentina national team. He will not be retiring.

The 34 year old drew a penalty and scored for Argentina in the World Cup final vs. France. He also scored in the Olympic final, the Copa America final and the Finalissima for Argentina.

Javier Zanetti comments on Lautaro Martínez, Lionel Messi

Javier Zanetti commented on Lautaro Martínez and the World Cup he had, while also speaking about Lionel Messi.

Zanetti was constantly in attendance, watching and supporting the Argentina national team at the World Cup. Speaking in an interview with TyC Sports, Zanetti commented on Lautaro’s fitness and World Cup. Here is what he had to say:

“Lautaro played through some physical problems but he had some opportunities to score, which were complicated.

“If one of his goals against Saudi Arabia had been given, he would have had a different World Cup. But that is football.

“The important thing was to have 26 players who could give the team a hand when called upon. Lautaro took the responsibility of taking the decisive penalty against the Netherlands, which he scored.

“He’s very young. He has a lot ahead of him, he’s become a world champion in his first World Cup and he deserves to enjoy that.”

In regards to Lionel Messi:

“I told Leo’s children (Messi) that they don’t realize the father they have, not only as a player but also as a person.”

Emiliano Dibu Martínez was in his home city of Mar del Plata where he spoke about the World Cup final, Lionel Messi and the match vs. Netherlands.

Dibu Martínez was in front of a large crowd, greeted as a national hero. The best goalkeeper of the World Cup commented on the penalty shootout vs. France in the World Cup final. Here is what he had to say:

“When I saved the first penalty in the World Cup final (Kingsley Coman), I knew that the
other guy was going to be very nervous. I tried to play with him mentally, throwing the ball far, talking to him… And he missed it, he screwed it up.

“Believe big. When I started with the national team, I wanted to be a World champion. I did it. I’m a Copa America champion, a World champion.”

Martínez also spoke about Lionel Messi:

“My dream was to give Leo (Messi) a title with the national team Getting him the Copa America and the Finalissima but my final dream as an athlete was to give the best player in the world the World Cup, so that there is no doubt that he’s the greatest.”

In regards to the match vs. Netherlands:

“I remember before the match, the Netherlands coach (Louis van Gaal) criticized us, our players, our captain, Ángel Di María and said that if it went to penalty kicks, they would win. The truth is he was wrong.”

New three star World Cup champions Argentina national team shirt release date

The Argentina national team will have a new shirt with the World Cup badge and three stars which will be released.

Argentina’s new three star World Cup winning shirt is set to be released on December 26 through Adidas. The shirt will have the World Cup badge in the middle with three stars above the AFA crest.

Following the team’s penalty shootout win vs. France in the World Cup final, the players wore the new shirt during the celebrations.
