Exequiel Palacios has renewed his contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

Palacios joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 from River Plate for €17 million and has renewed until 2030 with the club. Bayer Leverkusen announced that the Argentine signed a renewal on Friday.

With Bayer Leverkusen, Palacios was part of the legendary team which won the 2023-2024 Bundesliga title. He is presently out injured until the end of the year.

Emiliano Martínez misses Europa League match due to calf discomfort

Aston Villa defeated Feyenoord 2-0 away in Rotterdam in the second round of the Europa League group stage. Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez was announced as the starting goalkeeper but did not take the field.

The Argentine world champion felt calf tightness during the warm-up and chose not to risk it. As a result, Marco Bizot started in goal, with Martínez not even on the bench.

His situation comes just hours before Lionel Scaloni announces the Argentina squad for the upcoming friendlies in the United States against Venezuela and Puerto Rico.

With the game still 0-0 in the 79th minute, the Argentine midfielder capitalized on a rebound inside the box. Positioned near the penalty spot, he struck a low shot past the goalkeeper to give his team the lead.

The result means Aston Villa starts its European campaign with two wins out of two, despite a poor beginning to its Premier League season.

Giovani Lo Celso scored for Real Betis in their 2-0 victory against Ludogorets in Bulgaria, in the second round of the Europa League group stage.

The Argentine midfielder found the net in the first half when the game was still 0-0. After Betis recovered the ball on the right side, it reached Lo Celso at the edge of the box. He struck with his left foot, sending the ball past the goalkeeper and into the corner of the net.

With this victory, Betis reaches 4 points after two matches in the Europa League, having drawn 2-2 in the first game against Nottingham Forest.
