Alejandro Papu Gomez scored for Sevilla in their 3-0 win vs. Getafe.

Papu Gomez had a memorable debut in Spain as the Argentine managed to score in his first match for his new club. With the match at 0-0, Gomez was substituted on for Sevilla after a bad tackle on Lucas Ocampos. Sevilla would take a 1-0 lead shortly after and it would be the Argentine’s time to shine.

Gomez would give Sevilla the 2-0 lead with a thunderous shot from outside of the penalty area. While he shot would take a deflection and in, the goal was given to the Argentine.

Guido Carrillo and Lucas Boye both scored for Elche in their 2-2 draw vs. Villarreal.

It was Villarreal who took an early 2-0 lead but the club with five Argentine players and an Argentine coach would fight back and score twice. A cross sent into the penalty area found Carrillo as the 29 year old leaped and scored to get one back for Elche.

Boye would score the equalizer as a free kick by fellow Argentine Emiliano Rigoni hit the post and it would fall to Boye who would score to draw them level.

Argentine coach Jorge Almiron had four Argentine’s in the starting eleven. Ivan Marcone and Emiliano Rigoni started in midfield with the two scorers up front. Newly signed Paulo Gazzaniga was on the bench.

Former Argentina national team coach Jorge Sampaoli will reportedly take over as new coach of Olympique Marseille.

Jorge Sampaoli, currently coaching Atletico Mineiro in Brazil, is close to becoming the new coach of Marseille but there appears to be one problem. Per a report by AS in Spain, Marseille are looking to bring in the Argentine after former coach Andre Villas-Boas left the position.

Sampaoli has reportedly reached an agreement with Marseille but the situation appears to be with Atletico Mineiro. The former Argentina coach still has four matches left to manage in the Brazilian championship with the last match being on February 26, in three weeks.

Lautaro Martinez could sign new Inter deal, talks Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona

Lautaro Martinez spoke about playing alongside Lionel Messi with Argentian and his failed move to Barcelona as he gets closer to signing a contract extension with Inter.

Martinez was constantly rumored to be joining Barcelona last year and Inter were even one of the team’s who were reportedly interested in signing Lionel Messi. Both transfers didn’t happen but Lautaro did comment about them. Speaking with FC Inter 1908 and translated by Sempre Inter, here’s what he had to say about Lionel Messi’s failed move to Inter last year:

“It would have been dream for me if he’d joined. Playing with him is great as Messi is the best player in the world. I am happy to be able to play with him in the national team.“We young people look up to and listen to him.”

Still only 23 years old, the Argentine spoke about the pressure that’s on him and his failed move to Barcelona:

“It’s hard to deal with. If I go out to eat somewhere, I hear people talking about me. The same happens when I go to the bathroom. I have to be very strong mentally.”

Inter CEO Marotta recently spoke to Dazn where he mentioned that the club is discussing with Lautaro Martinez to extend his contract with a decision in the coming months.

Angel Di Maria scored and assisted for PSG in their 3-0 win vs. Nimes as he also spoke about Lionel Messi possibly joining the team.

Di Maria scored his fourth goal of the season to give PSG the 1-0 lead. The Argentine got onto the end of a poor pass, ran towards goal and his effort opened the scoring for his fourth goal of the season.

Now 32 years of age, Di Maria also had an assist as he crossed the ball into the penalty area for Sarabia to score to give them the 2-0 lead.

He would also make headlines after the match as he was asked about Lionel Messi possibly leaving Barcelona and joining him with PSG. When asked about it by Canal+, here’s what he had to say:

“I hope so. There’s a big chance. We have to be calm and to let things develop.”
