Gonzalo Higuain could join Athletic Bilbao after his contract runs out with Juventus.

Per a report by Marca, the former Real Madrid striker could join the Basque team as he becomes a free agent in the summer. Higuain, who was born in France and represented the Argentina national team, has Basque origins.

Argentine clubs in Copa Libertadores, preview of group stages

South American’s biggest club competition restarts on Tuesday with the Copa Libertadoers group stage kicking off.

Argentina will be represented by five clubs in this year’s competition. Tigre, River Plate, Racing Club, Defensa y Justicia and Boca Juniors will look to bring the trophy back to Argentina. Last year’s finalists River Plate will try to make it to yet another final. Here are the groups for this year:

Sergio Aguero scored for Manchester City in their 2-1 win vs. Aston Villa to lift the Carabao Cup.

Aguero, not for the first time in his career, scored a crucial goal for his team. His goal gave City the 1-0 lead. The Argentine would be subbed off and was seen putting an ice pack on his right knee. Here’s what coach Pep Guardiola had to say about it:

“It was a kick. We will see in the next few days.”

The third Argentine player to score in the MLS opening weekend, Ezequiel Barco, like Cristian Pavon and Maxi Urruti, also netted a great goal. Receiving the ball outside of the penalty area, the Argentina U20 man would cut inside and his low driven shot would beat the goalkeeper.

With the Olympics coming up in a few months, Barco will be looking to continue his great form and solidify a spot in the team.

Cristian Pavon scored an early goal of the season candidate for the LA Galaxy in their 1-1 draw vs. Houston Dynamo.

Not to be outdone by fellow Argentine Maxi Urruti who scored a great goal himself, Pavon would strike very early in the match to give LA the 1-0 lead. The former Boca Juniors man who cut inside and would strike from the edge of the penalty area as his shot would hit the top corner of the net.

As we reported earlier last week, the LA Galaxy are rumored to make Pavon’s loan move to the club as a permanent one.
