Jonathan Calleri scored a hat trick for Espanyol in their 3-2 win vs. Wolves.

It was three goals for Calleri but an elimination from the Europa League for Espanyol. Calleri would score the first goal of the match. A low pass sent into the area and Calleri from close range would score.

Calleri would score his second of the game as Espanyol were awarded a penalty and up stepped Calleri who converted.

The former Boca Juniors and West Ham man would add one more. A cross was sent into the area and Calleri with a header would complete his hat trick.

Luciano Vietto scores in Sporting loss to Basaksehir in Europa League

Luciano Vietto scored for Sporting in their 4-1 loss to Istanbul Basaksehir.

It was a dramatic extra time loss which eliminated Sporting from the Europa League. Luciano Vietto scored Sporting’s only goal of the game. Marcos Acuna sent a cross into Vietto who headed the ball in.

It was 4-3 on aggregate for Sporting up until injury time where Basaksehir would draw level on aggregate. They would go on to score in extra time.

Lucas Alario scored for Bayer Leverkusen in their 3-1 win vs. FC Porto.

Alario opened the scoring for Leverkusen in their second leg Round of 32 match. Alario received the ball on the edge of the penalty area to Agustin Marchesin’s right and he slotted the ball in to give Leverkusen the lead.

Leverkusen would go on to win 5-2 on aggregate.

Argentina goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman scores injury time winner for Tigres

Argentina goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman scored for Tigres in their 4-2 win vs. Alianza.

It was an injury time winner from an unlikely source. With Tigres on the brink of elimination, they were awarded a free kick. Tigres were winning 3-2 but needed one more goal or else they would be eliminated on aggregate.

Nahuel Guzman was in the penalty area as the free kick was sent it. Guzman would score in injury time to send Tigres into the next round of the CONCACAF Champions League.

With the Champions League Round of 16 continuing this week, Lionel Messi’s Barcelona visiting Diego Maradona’s Napoli has stolen all of the headlines.

Finalists of previous years Juventus will look to take a second leg advantage back to Italy when they clash against Lyon. Paulo Dybala will look to make this tournament his with Gonzalo Higuain as they will want to make another Champions League final.

One of the clash of the rounds involves two other Argentine’s. Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi will want to vanquish their Champions League demons and eliminating Real Madrid would be a step in the right direction.
