Mauricio Pochetinno reportedly agrees to become new PSG coach

Mauricio Pochettino is set to become the new PSG coach.

Pochettino may have found his new coaching job as PSG have announced that they have fired Thomas Tuchel. The club announced on Thursday that he will no longer be coaching them.

The former Tottenham manager is set to take over, per several reports. The Guardian has reported that Pochettino is expected to be named as the new coach in the next few hours. They’re reporting that there are a few details left but that he is expected to be named the new coach.

PSG have won the league seven times in the past eight seasons but are presently in third spot in the table. Pochettino has not coached since being let go by Tottenham in November of 2019 but has been linked with several teams since that time.

He previously played for PSG from 2001-2003 but has never coached in France.

Lautaro Martinez scores in Inter 2-1 win vs. Verona

Lautaro Martinez scored for Inter in their 2-1 win vs. Verona.

Martinez managed his sixth goal of the season to keep Inter in second spot in the league. The Argentine scored from close range, a great shot to beat the goalkeeper to give Inter the 1-0 lead. Lautaro spoke to Inter TV after the match. Here’s what he had to say:

“I’m here to win something with this Club. We work every day to show that we can stay at the front, but there are tough matches and we always need to give more. Today, we did well and got the win. My relationship with Lukaku? He’s a good guy, since his first day here we’ve always spoke and got on.

“For a striker, scoring goals is key and we live to score. To break the deadlock meant that this goal was even more important, but I’m happy when Inter win and I want to help the team. I dedicate the goal to my family, who have joined me for the holidays. I wish all the fans and all of the staff all the best during the holiday season.”

Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo set to leave Manchester United

Sergio Romero and Marcos Romero are set to leave Manchester United.

The two Argentine players are set to leave the club with them being deemed as surplus. Per a report by TyC Sports, Romero and Rojo are not in the coach’s plans and would leave in the January transfer market.

Romero, who was Manchester United’s back-up goalkeeper and cup goalkeeper, has lost his spot to Dean Henderson this season. Romero hasn’t taken part in any match and rumors have been circulating regarding his exit. Already 33 years of age, Romero has been linked with MLS club Inter Miami where he could join Gonzalo Higuain in the team.

Marcos Rojo has also lost his spot in the Manchester United back line. He spent part of last season on loan at Estudiantes in Argentina and will not be continuing with United. Still only 30 years of age, Rojo has been linked with Lazio in Italy.

PSG, Inter, Roma, AC Milan keeping tabs on Alejandro Papu Gomez of Atalanta

Alejandro Papu Gomez is set to leave Atalanta in January and there are reportedly several clubs interested in signing him.

Papu Gomez has been in the news for several days after news emerged that he wants out of Atalanta. Already 32 years of age, Gomez has played some of the best football of his career with the club but with him wanting to leave, four clubs are reportedly interested in the Argentine.

Gomez could leave in January with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that PSG, Inter Milan, AS Roma and AC Milan all possible destinations for him. His current contract ends in June 2022 but it’s being reported that he wants out of it.

Despite his fall out with the club, he already has five goals and four assists this season in 16 matches this season. 

Andrés D’Alessandro plays last match for Inter after 12 seasons

Andrés D’Alessandro played his last match for Inter de Porto Alegre after 12 seasons with the club.

D’Alessandro was in tears following Inter’s 2-0 win vs. Palmeiras. Now 39 years of age, the former River Plate man joined Inter in 2008 and while he did go back to River on loan for a few months back in 2016, he would end up playing for Inter throughout that entire period. He would grow into a captain and the main figure at the club where he would manage to win the 2010 Copa Libertadores.

It was announced at the end of November that he would not continue with the club but he would continue his playing career. There are rumors of him going back to River Plate with Argentinos Juniors and Racing Club being possible destinations.

With the Argentina national team, D’Alessandro won the 2001 U20 World Cup where he was part of an all star team.
