1. I think that the real problem we have isn’t necessarily the inclusion of certain players but rather the exclusion of Buendía, Molina, etc. The other players don’t really matter if they won’t play

   • Though I know this would never happen, I would love to see a starting line up of the following players:

     Bustos/Saravia (RB position still shacky) | Senesi | Romero | Tagliafico/Acuna (LB not WC winning status)

     DePaul/Lamela | Paredes | Ocampos

     Messi/Correa | Icardi/Lautaro | Nico Gonzalez/Correa

     This team would be a mixture of height (with Romero, Ocampos, Icardi great for headers on set pieces and open play) and skill. The entire midfield is technical, fast comfortable on the ball, and are workhorses. Lamela in an Argentine shirt has produced in important matches (rematch vs Germany, Copa America, and in his last game in our colors he provided the assist for Icardi’s first goal). A player with his technique and runs would open the game for Messi, Icardi/Lautaro, Nico Gonzalez as he does for Kane and Son. He is inconsistent though in Tottenham and injury prone, so he should come off the bench for tired DePaul who has sealed his position.

     Other players that can be backups in the midfield include Papu Gomez, DiMaria, Palacios, LoCelso.

     I do not include Foyth as he has shown to be clumsy, injury-prone, and will likely make a mistake to cost the game (recent back pass against Barcelona. Stops running against Brazil when no whistle is blown). In my opinion, he is in the boat with the likes of Fabricio Coloccini and DeMichelis. DeMichelis was a defender who played for the best European teams but made fans cry at times. He was at times world-class solid but would make mistakes that cost games. He should have man-marked Mario Götze in 2014 final. Had he stayed on Götze’s ass, he would of headed the ball away. But you cannot count on players like him, Foyth to ensure WC victory. The stage will always be too big. I hope I’m wrong about Foyth, but I see Coloccini and I would include a Brazilian by the name of David Luiz in that boat. Great defender, but you cannot always count on him as you never know where his mind is.

5. Di Maria is such a nice player whenever he plays,he is a nightmare for opposition left back player Alphonso Davies, Cancello etc.City made many great chances.Phil Phoden impressed me most.

   • Its amusing Foden in his one of the worst performances impressed you the most.

6. Paredes hit the ball unnecessarily out of frustration and earn yellow card in an important match. Also, I think he was at fault in the wall…made a crack or hole in the wall…that caused Mehrez to score.

   • He also got a yellow the game against Munich last year and PSG conceded not long after that. He needs to chance his attitude otherwise he will go to back a small club again.

7. As much as I want Pochettino to win along with the boys on the team, I would HATE to see the Chicken-head win anything along side Mbappe and Navas who irritates the hell out of me.

8. Di Maria defends instead of Neymar and Mbappe too, running like a dog, still create chances and can be dangerous.

9. According to TNT Sports, Argentinian U20 international attacking midfielder and CA Colón young powerhouse Facundo Farias (18) has been targeted by no less than Juventus. Turning 19 on August 28, the 2002-born is currently on a deal with Sabalero until December 2022. How good is this guy?

   • What I do know is he had an assist against river, but to be honest I have not heard much about him and am surprised to see him targeted by Juventus. If I watch any more of him I will certainly say what I think. If juve get him hopefully he’ll follow the Romero route and go on loan to other clubs

11. 40 million Euros worth player is not in list of 50 player squad. Oh my God what weed they are smoking.The player who needs to be in starting 11 is not in 50 player list. Emi Buendai is the best back up for Lo celso and De Paul. Lo celso form is inconsistent so Emi Buendai is reliable option. Even Buendai can play in left wing if there us injury or lack of form in players. Great loss for Argentinian dreams.

12. I am trying to think the rationale behind some selections. May be there is a need for local players as a back up, in case some others cannot show up. Seems like a lame excuse I am coming up with.

    I have come to peace with myself long back, that you will not see a line up that makes everyone happy. Now what I fear most…

    A GK line up eventually of Armani, Andrada and Marchesin, with Armani the automatic starter. This is my biggest fear and I feel this can and will happen.

    Some are really funny, don’t even know whether to be angry or laugh – Casco, Enzo Perez, Suarez, Saravia. Really? Seriously?

    Someone must know the thought process. There used to be people here before who could give us the internal politics of AFA.

I have considered the situation and I think it is very possible that some of these players (Kannemann, Casco, Perez, Pereyra) have a positive effect on the dressing room and will probably not be in the final 23 anyway. The only true problem isn’t that these players are in the squad of 50 but that Buendía isn’t. We will have a lot or matches in a short time and Buendía would be very impactful as a sub and for rotation. He is a huge miss.

18. I think it’s more or less the confirmed players who were always in Scaloni’s plans with Enzo Perez and Suarez as a surprise adding’s, It’s a good list as per me. The 23 out of these 50 also would be similar to what we have seen before, I’m just intrigued to whether Emilaino Martinez, Critian Romero & Lisandro Martinez would make the cut or not. They deserve to be in the 23. Cristian Romero and Emilaino Martinez deserves to start too. Let’s see.

    Here and there some players will definitely miss out, we can’t expect our favorites to make the cut. There were always clamoring’s for adding players, it doesn’t work like that. Hopefully Scaloni an ultimate underdog coach can bring some luck to us, whether with our favorite players or without them doesn’t matter.

    Unless im forgetting someone obvious, this list is as as good as it can get. Buendia ain’t gonna start or isn’t crucial. Buendia < Messi, Dybala, Lo Celso, De Paul, Di Maria, Gomez…

    • my friend there is a list of 50 players which more than half they will be out.
      there is nobody out of the list now that was counted or expected as starter in Copa.
      So everything is ok and there isn t any problem.
      everything is normal in my eyes.

      as for some that complain all time don t give attention.even if was 70 players in the list again they will find someone out of list to complain.
      the important is who will be the 23 of Copa. Just there is time for learn that.

22. It’s obvious that there are political pressure from local clubs. If this selection is true, it’s surely not on merit.

    I am sure the final 3 goal keepers will be Armani, Andrada and Marchesin.

    Casco, Enzo Perez and Suarez is a shameful selection. This is the curse because of which we don’t win.

23. Emi Buendai is Championship player of the season 2020-21 still he is not a part of list. What Enzo Perez is doing there. Emi Buendai is in the radar of Arsenal and Aston Villa and most likely he will leave Norwich City this season which is also in Premier league this season.

24. Refreshing to see that Boca is playing a lot of youngsters lately. They beat Santos 2-0 today with a midfield of Almendra – Varela – Medina & also nice to see Pavon back. Waiting to see Rojo come out of injury & add some spice at the back .
    Though they dont have the flair of Gallardo’s system & rely on crosses & quick counters , atleast youth is getting some good minutes now in Boca . I liked Nico Calpado in RB position. He for sure must be selected in Olympics & can be Batista’s DM/RB back up

    • I noticed that within the last month or two Medina has become a starter at boca, pretty impressive for his age. Maybe it is for an injury but still impressive. Wonder if he has a lot of potential or not

    • As always local pressure points ensure some of these selections like Matias Suarez, Casco , Enzo Perez . Thankfully AFA spared Salvio this time!!! Saravia has not played since Sept 20 with injury & Simeone is in pretty bad form since his last injury. I am hoping we dont see Matias Suarez , Casco , Pererya, Kannemann & even Andrada in final 23.

      • Roberto perreyra is not a bad option…..I don’t mind selecting players who are featuring for their respective clubs regularly especially in the top 5 leagues.

        • Ok for 50 list. But i feel in a 6-7 man midfield of 23, we have much better options. Also never seen pererya elevate in NT colors.

        • Very true olive. Buendia not being in 50 can never a logical football explanation. Even 2nd division cannot be a reason bcos nico Gonzalez was picked by scaloni when stuggart was in 2nd division. I jus hope scaloni’s loss is batista’s gain & olympic team laps him up.

31. Leaving Buendia and Molina out of a selection of FIFTY players, while selecting Enzo Perez, Zaracho, Lamela, Casco and Saravia is laughable and makes no sense…

    Molina was being scouted by NT. He plays with De Paul, Pereyra and Musso in Udinese and he is playing well with good form. Why select Casco or 8 months injured Saravia over him?

    Buendia is one of our best midfielders right now and the type of player we need. Dominguez might not even recover before Copa starts. He is miles ahead of Pereyra, Zaracho and injury prone Lamela atm…

    But it’s just the rumored list. Either way it should be difficult to get a 50 man squad list wrong…
