Nicolás Tagliafico spoke about the Argentina national team and the World Cup.

Tagliafico started Argentina’s 2-1 win vs. Chile on Thursday as the team remains undefeated in 28 matches. With Argentina already qualified for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, the 29 year old spoke in an interview with the AFA website. Here is what he had to say:

“Having qualified is very important. It gives you the freedom to continue to practice things that, at best, when one needs a result, it’s more complicated. We still have the same mentality as we did for the first World Cup qualifier.

“We feel like we are already playing the World Cup even though there’s still eight months left. And each match is very important to continue to grow as a group, to continue polishing things that will make us better for the World Cup.

“We have the tools and the necessary confidence to continue to fight and to continue on the patch to victory. Which is the most important things eight months before the start of the World Cup.”

In regards to playing against Colombia on Tuesday:

“They’re always a difficult opponent. We know the talent they have, the players. We saw it in the last matches. In the last match, we were winning 2-0 and it ended in a 2-2 draw. That shows that they are a very strong team and it will be a hard fought match.”
