Argentina to train on Tuesday, all eyes on Ángel Di María

The Argentina national team will be training on Tuesday afternoon with all eyes on Ángel Di María.

Lionel Scaloni gave the team a day off on Sunday after their 2-1 win vs. Australia in the Round of 16 but the team was back training on Monday. Ángel Di María and Papu Gómez both did recovery work on their injuries.

Scaloni will have already started thinking about the Netherlands in the quarter finals on Friday and on how Ángel Di María is progressing. Di María missed the win vs. Australia due to a muscle overload and if he is fit, is expected to be in the starting eleven in the quarter finals.

  1. I think Di Maria will play. It is either from the start or as a sub. Not 90 minutes for sure. Either way is good. if he is coming as a sub and we are winning in the first half, it makes sense to save him for Brazil.

  2. If Dimaria is unfit chances of Scaloni starting both Lautaro and Julian is slim. If he didn’t start both against a comparatively weaker opponent , he is not going to do it in a quarter-final showdown against a overconfident team. With Papu also out, don’t be surprised if he goes with Correa instead of Paredes. A.Correa is best equipped to fill in for Fideo. He can take on defenders and penetrate into the box and has played multiple times with Depaul and Molina on that right flank. But I really really hope Dimaria is fully fit and can gives at least 60mins. Even if he doesn’t score , just his presence will keep the right side of Dutch side on their toes the whole time he on pitch freeing up players like Molina, Depaul , Enzo and Macalister!!
