The now 30 year old left back has joined Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s team after spending 5 years with Stuttgart. Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese had this to say:

Santiago Ascacibar has officially joined Hertha from Bundesliga 2 side Stuttgart.

The Argentina man has joined Jurgen Klinsmann’s Hertha where he will be wearing the number 18 shirt. Ascacibar received first cap for Argentina in 2018 under current coach Lionel Scaloni.

Still only 22 years old, speaking with Hertha’s website, here’s what Ascacibar had to say:

“I’m happy that the transfer has been completed in the winter break.

“After holding talks with Michael Preetz and Jürgen Klinsmann, I believe I can continue to develop as a player here and that we can achieve a lot together. I’m really looking forward to that and can hardly wait to get to know my new teammates. We’ll do everything we can to keep climbing up the table in the second half of the season.”

Sporting director Michael Preetz said this about the defensive midfielder:

“Santiago can operate in a number of roles in central midfield. At 22 he’s a young midfielder with the potential to develop further. He’s very strong in the tackle. We’re delighted to have recruited another very talented player into our squad.”

As we enter 2020, the Mundo Albiceleste Argentina database is up to date for the last year.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni used 45 players in 2019 and we have the full list with player profiles. I personally have been working on the database for over 10 years and we have over 200 player profiles. From current to previous players, from goals scored at youth level to senior level.

If you look at Lionel Messi‘s profile, you will see he has scored a goal for Argentina in 14 straight years. For Sergio Aguero, it’s 13 years.

We have all the Argentina goals scored from Abel Balbo to Gabriel Batistuta to Javier Saviola. As for another Javier, this time Javier Zanetti, we have a full list of all his Argentina matches and goals scored. The database is constantly being updated, make sure to give us a look!
