Alexis Mac Allister along with Fausto Vera, Tomas Belmonte and Hernan de la Fuente all commented on Argentina qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.

Mac Allister may not have scored in the 2-1 win vs. Colombia but he is the tournament’s top scorer. He has scored 4 goals in the Olympic qualifiers and has been one of the standout players for his team. Here’s what he had to say:

“It makes me very happy to start the year like this. Now we want to win all seven matches in the tournament.”

Fausto Vera with this:

“We are very happy for what we have achieved. Now to rest and to enjoy with the family. We have set out to win the match vs. Brazil. We knew that they (Colombia) had to win and we played a little with their desperation. Luckily we were able to have a good match.

Hernan de la Fuente:

“The second half against Colombia was an uphill but thank God we were able to get the result. We will play to win, to make history with this shirt. We will look at the match vs. Brazil like we did against every team.”

Adolfo Gaich may not have scored in the 2-1 win vs. Colombia but he was one of Argentina’s best players throughout the entire tournament.

Gaich had a break through 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup and even played a match for the senior Argentina national team. With the U23 team, Gaich scored, assisted and did everything to help the team qualify for the Olympics. Here’s what he had to say following the win:

“It’s amazing what this team has achieved. We have won every match so far. The first half was complicated but we were able to keep the score at zero. And after that, we took advantage of the chances we had. We are justifiably champions.”

Argentina captain Nehuen Perez scored and helped lead his team to the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo.

Author of the second goal, Perez was one of the stand out players of the tournament for his team. Here’s what he had to say after the win:

“We are very happy for the result, for winning the championship. We came here having worked a lot and it showed that the team is very much united. We knew it would be a very difficult match, the anxiety played against us in the first half. We came out more calm in the second half.

“The team has a lot of humility and companionship which was seen on the pitch.”

Argentina qualify for Olympics games, win the qualifying tournament

Argentina have qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games and have also won the tournament with a match left to play.

Agustin Urzi and Nehuen Perez were the two goal scorers for Argentina in their 2-1 win vs. Colombia. It wasn’t the easiest of matches and they held on for dear life at the end but Fernando Batista’s team did it.

Urzi opened the scoring early in the second half with one of the goals of the tournament. A lovely left footed strike from outside of the penalty area was hoofted over the goalkeeper and into the goal to give Argentina the 1-0 lead. However, Urzi would later get himself red carded.

Nehuen Perez would make it 2-0 shortly just minutes later. A corner kick for Argentina as a cross was sent into the area and Perez with a bullet of a header doubled Argentina’s lead.

This is the first time since 2004 that Argentina have won the pre-Olympic tournament. The first time was in 1960 held in Peru, second time in 1964 also held in Peru, third in 1980 in Colombia.
