Alario’s first goal came through a set piece. A corner kick sent in found Alario who headed the ball to give Leverkusen the 1-0 lead. Alario would double Leverkusen’s lead, this time scoring from close range.

Lionel Messi scored a hattrick for FC Barcelona in their 5-2 win vs. Mallorca.
It was the Lionel Messi show and Lionel Messi week. A few days after receiving a record sixth Ballon d’Or, the Argentina captain lead his team to victory scoring a new record 35th La Liga hattrick.
Messi scored his first goal in the first half. He received the ball outside of the penalty area and a well placed curled shot beat the goalkeeper. Number two would prove to be just as sweet.
He would receive the ball once more outside of the area and just like his first effort, a great shot would make it 3-1 for Barcelona. His third would be just as beautiful.
Barcelona’s captain would receive the ball inside the area and a first time shot would rocket into the net.
Mauro Icardi scored for PSG in their 3-1 win vs. Montpellier.
It was Montpellier who took a 1-0 lead after Leandro Paredes scored an own goal. PSG would go on to score three with Mauro Icardi scoring the last one.
A cross sent into the area by Mbappe found Icardi who’s volley would beat Geronimo Rulli and into the net.

Nicolas Otamendi scored for Manchester City as they lost the Manchester derby 2-1 to neighbors United.
It hasn’t been the best few months for Otamendi. With City’s title hopes all but mathematically gone, a win against Manchester United would have kept them in the race. Manchester United took a 2-0 lead up until late in the match.
Otamendi would score City’s only goal of the match, a header off a corner. The goal would be the only one for Pep Guardiola’s team.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about Lautaro Martinez’s spot in the team.
Martinez has been one of the constant figures for Scaloni since taking over as Argentina coach. Speaking with Fox Sports, here’s what Scaloni had to say:
“Lautaro Martinez is the present and the future of the Argentina team. We’re very lucky to have him. Along with Messi and Aguero, they are the best three Argentine players and my idea is to play them all together. It’s clear that there are times when they are not all fully fit and this leads to having to vary my choices.”
