Lionel Messi scored a free kick for Barcelona in their 2-1 win vs. Athletic Bilbao

Messi was back against Bilbao, the team he got red carded against just a few weeks ago. With his contract being leaked in the media, his response was a goal and a free kick one at that. Messi was fouled as the referee called for the free kick.

The Argentine stepped up and his effort gave Barcelona the 1-0 lead, despite Bilbao having a player on the line trying to clear it. He has now scored 650 goals for Barcelona, 55 of them free kicks.

Barcelona are now second in the standings behind only Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid team.

Adolfo Gaich has joined Benevento on loan from CSKA Moscow with the club having an option to buy.

Gaich has found a new club, only months after having joined CSKA Moscow. It had been reported throughout the week that the 21 year old was close to joining Benevento on loan with the transfer now completed.

Per a report by Football Italia, Benevento have submitted the contract to the league and it is a loan deal with an option to buy. Gaich is joining for a reported €300,000 with Benevento having the option to buy for €12 million.

The Argentine scored one goal and one assist in 18 matches this season and has already been capped by the Argentina national team.

Franco Cervi is set to join Celta from Benfica.

Cervi is close to making the switch over from Benfica to Celta but per a report, things could be slightly complicated. Per a report by AS, both clubs and the player have reached an agreement over the transfer for around €8 million but there is one obstacle remaining.

The Argentine would occupy one of the non-EU spots and since Celta do not have any that are left, they are trying to sell Lucas Olaza before completing the signing. Celta are reportedly trying to take care of the Uruguayan’s situation and if he will stay at the club or go back to Boca Juniors.

Still only 26 years old, Cervi joined Benfica from Rosario Central back in 2016 and has already been capped and scored a goal for the Argentina national team.

Mateo Musacchio has joined Lazio from AC Milan.

Musacchio, now 30 years old, has left Milan to join Lazio in the nation’s capital. Lazio confirmed the move on Tuesday as they tweeted out a picture of the Argentine with the club’s scarf. He has also taken his medical as the club confirmed that on Wednesday.

Per a report by Tuttomercatoweb, he will join on a six month deal with Lazio having the option to renew his contract for two more seasons. He has struggled recently with injuries and has only played two matches this season.

The defender joined Milan back in 2017 from Villarreal and has represented the Argentina national team but has not been included in the squad for several years.

Alejandro Papu Gomez has joined Sevilla from Atalanta.

Papu Gomez has left Atalanta after six seasons at the club, spending 10 of the past 11 years in Italy. The Argentine has signed a three and a half year deal, which would keep him with Sevilla until the end of the 2024 season.

Scoring over 50 goals for Atalanta, the 32 year old broke the Serie A assist record last season when he ended with 16 to his name. He joins fellow Argentine players Lucas Ocampos, Marcos Acuna and Franco Vazquez at the club.
